the end of the world really is nigh

Hey, all you people in the southern hemisphere, and especially new zealand: there is a rather spectacular comet in the southern sky at the moment, Comet McNaught. it's visible in the western/southwestern sky from about half past nine and I URGE you to go somewhere to check it out - it's really worth arriving around quarter to ten and then sticking it out until half past ten to get a good view of its spectacular tail as the sky brightens. In wellington I recommend going up Mt Albert and looking out towards the sea. It should be really obvious even to the naked eye but it also looks rockin' with binoculars or of course a telescope.
