For the poetry today, I bring you a little ditty I wrote in Math105 this morning. If you think it's strange, I can only tell you that an eight am lecture can do strange things to you.


why write on desks?

firstly the strange sensational thrill
...............like leaving a message in a bottle
....................(unsigned of course)
...............although it doesn't float away
...............the people do and
...............you never know who might see...

then coming back next day and finding
someone's added a little something
...............to what you wrote...
..................frivolous joy
......................unspeakable amusement for the rest of the lecture.

which brings me to my third point:
...............it's entertaining.
...............and why pay attention in class anyway?
...............the entire idea is utterly absurd.

it doesn't really cause a mess:
black pen on black desk doesn't leave much of a mark
and it's productive too

you don't believe me?
fine then, it's graffiti
but go look on the desks of your forefathers
now that's a miracle:

if you write on desks
...............someone might read it
....................twenty years later
.........................so after all it's a learning experience

write?


Otherwise the day has sort of sucked. Two philosophy problems abd a whole bunch of math problems took turns kicking my sorry ass. They're all due in tomorrow, too.

Plus side, though: I'm making friends with some lovely fellas in my Phil class, so that's nice. :)

Also: reading Russel Brown's blog Hard News, which I thoroughly reccomend, BTW, I came across this totally daft column (don't bother reading it because it doesn't actually say anything.). Hey, nic_the_hat, is that the camp you're going to mentioned down the bottom?

I really do like Russell Brown. *muses* I've probably said this before, but you can pick up such a fantastic range of stuff by following his links... No Right Turn, the NZ Magazine Awards, the very wierd Muriel Newman, etc, etc, etc. *thumbs up* Someone needs to syndicate him to LJ.

BA/BSC in Linguistics, Mathematics and Philosophy. plus spare Astrophysics, English and French papers (this year. Look for Maori and creative writing next year. ;))
