iirc, in CA, I can ask for a delay. I.E., take care of my civic duty during summer recess. I haven't received a summons yet since arriving in CA. I'm glad, though, because I'd rather not visit Oroville (the most disgusting city...) or wherever the heck the courts are! So maybe you can reschedule!
