I got a Jury Summons in the mail today!

Okay, now, I know that when I am old and jaded I will complain about time and trouble and boredom and so on. But this is the first time I have been summonsed and I'm kind of excited! And I want to do it, too, because, you know, civil duty and stuff. And I want to know what it'd be like. Even though I also know the answer to that question is probably "boring and mundane."

However, it would be really, really easy for me to be excused and I think I probably should... because it's the week just before exams. I have at least two assessments due in that period and I have an exam on the monday and another one on the Tuesday. So I really kind of don't have the time. So I should ask to be excused... but I want to do it!

So, you know, I'm kind of torn. :-/

Imagine how good you'll feel to have done your civic duty even in the face of exams. And how well the case went because at least one thoughtful and well-informed citizen was participating. And how the jury system would collapse if everyone who had something else to do were excused.
