eeee! ::incoherency::
but...but...Fox? I thought Whedon swore up and down he'd never go back to them?

I know! It's a real source of cognitive dissonance! Everyone I tell's like YAY - wait, FOX? assholes. But, gah, it's a 7-ep committment and I SO want this to happen.

I do too! But I watched the commentary on Firefly, and I know how badly they treat just about everybody ever, including Futurama. I guess I'm a little wary, and will hold back on full elation until the first ep is out.
Unfortunately, this premise doesn't even pretend to break the pattern of Whedon-women-treatment. Nonetheless, it promises to be sexy-awesome.

Futurama gets three movies! Direct to DVD or not, me no care, NEW FUTURAMA!!!

I know! And Fry's dog will be back! THEY PROMISED.

For an animated sci-fi satire they sure knew how to do bitter sweet didn't they? The orphan stuff, the seven leaf clover, etc.

But damn, that dog.

Possibly the saddest montage EVER, animated or not.
Futurama is the reason I can't watch too much Simpsons; I keep comparing them and The Simpsons always come up ultra-lite.

[identity profile] disturbed-kiwi.livejournal.com 2007-11-01 06:27 am (UTC)(link)
Even the best Simpsons was just layered with satire and barbs, I don't think it ever got as true to life emotions as Futurama manages.

Perhaps not surprising, considering the source. When cartoons approach realism too closely they get labeled anime or some such, and viewership drops. Futurama had the luxury of an alien setting to distance the audience.

I was caught so off-guard by Fry's dog! When it ended I was like, "...wait. What did they just do to me? Uh, I think I'm broken! :("

[identity profile] dragonwire.livejournal.com 2007-11-01 06:37 am (UTC)(link)
I know! It was completely unprecedented and unexpected, which is why I think it was so effective.

Yeah, I'm a little dubious, but - guaranteed 7 eps, right?

Unfortunately, this premise doesn't even pretend to break the pattern of Whedon-women-treatment. Nonetheless, it promises to be sexy-awesome.

Yeah, I was thinking about that. And the thing is, as much as I can criticise Joss Whedon for his women, the one thing he always does is have characters, people on screen, including women - his faults tend to be in what happens to them, which can be a drag but - I'm trusting him. Because I love him and I miss him and hi, Joss Whedon is my master now.

I'm wearing it right now muahahaha.
