OSCARS
I feel tooooo lazy. So, well, this may not technically be what you'd call original and/or creative, but it's the only thing I can think of to talk about for the moment. So... the semi-obligatory Oscar Blog. Not that I care about such mass-produced crap, or anything.
Best Actor
Okay- I'll admit it. I've only seen one of the films on this list, because half of them aren't even out here, and also I'm skint. Saving for a trip to the other side of the world does that to you. (Note: I'm gonna see Dave!!!!!!!!!!!) However: I personally worship Johnny Depp, and I thought he was fantastic in Pirates of the Carribean. And yet- it's a character role. I don't think they're going to pick something that looks like it was fun. Failing that, Lost In Translation looks really good. However, I'm Slightly Concerned Mystic River is going to do much better than deserved because of a certain Famous Name which I will not. Name, that is. Oh well, hope not.
Best Makeup
There shouldn't be even a question about this. Hello. IF WE DON'T GET THIS, POOR LAWRENCE MAKAORE SPENDING EIGHT HOURS BEING SUITED UP TO DO TEN MINUTES OF ACTING WILL ALL BE FOR NOTHING. So yeah, ROTK is my pick. If not, Pirates again: Master and Commander was great, but I don't think the make up, at least, was much to write home about.
Best Actress
Obviously I think Keisha Castle-Hughes will get this. However, this is another one of those ones I haven't seen any other of the movies.
Still and all.... she was fantastic. And the movie, too. And, of course, the book.the book was beautiful and SO good, Witi Ihimaera is BRILLIANT, and no-one knows that it exists- I mena, overseas, not in NZ, obviously. *sad*
Best Score
You know, I loved Finding Nemo, but I don't even remember the score. I know the ROTK score wasn't as amazing as the other two, but I think it deserves it anyway.
Best Song
This cannot be denied Into the West. Simply beautiful.
Animated Feature Film
Finding Nemo. Because I wouldn't see Brother Bear if you paid me. If you paid me under $100, anyway.
Best Picture
Well... what do you think I'm going to say?
RETURN OF THE KING!!!
Hell yeah.
Art Direction
You know, this is really hard. ROTK was beautiful, but I also liked M&C a lot- I'll go for ROTK, though, because Minas Tirith was amazing.
Costume Design
If we don't get this, is is so rigged. All I'm saying. Ngila Dickson, hello!
Sound Editing
I really don't care.... Master and Commander.
Directing
Peter Jackson really deserves this. He really really does. I don't this it's appreciated exactly how much he did, constantly, amazing stuff, referring to the books, and so forth.
Sound Mixing
This is another one of the ones where you never know who won this one anyway. I'd be happy with them all, except Seabisciut, because IT'S A HORSE FILM. ANIMAL FILSM SHOULD NOT GET OSCARS.
Visual Effects
The Battle of the Pelennor Fields Shoudl make this one clear. If it doesn't, Master and Commander also did ver well (I thought.)
Film Editing
I don't know enough about this to judge.
Best Adapted Screenplay
Ahahahaha, I hope you're not seriously asking that question.
Best Original Screenplay
Finding Nemo. Ehehehehehe.
So yeah, there we go, thoughts?
