Oh my god, spam is getting so wierd. At least, I think it's spam. I don't know, because it's not actually in a language I can understand, or even recognise. Does anyone at all recognise anything about these messages? Language? Content?

If it's just another Enlarge Your Penis!11 and I will be very disappointed. ;)

There are a couple of others that are all along the same lines, but that's the longest one. Looking at the links I start to suspect, too, that it's German, but I don't want to... you know... click them or anything so.

But the most disturbing thing by far? it comes from someone at ird.govt.nz. *crying* nooooooooooo, I'm getting spam from Inland Revenue!

ETA: [livejournal.com profile] thinkaholic recognised it as Nazi Propaganda Spam/virus, so I'm getting rid of all the links up there just in case. Thanks, Mike, and anyone, fi you're getting crazy German spam, JUST DELETE.

Also: still finding it creepy that, apparently, an IRD computer was affected by the virus. *uncomfortable* I don't like to bitch about the public service (hang on, does it even count?) but...

@ird.govt.nz? SOUNDS LIKE IRD TO ME.

Plus, it's clearly evil. spam=evil taxes=evil so taxes=spam...

Heh.

[identity profile] nzlemming.livejournal.com 2005-05-17 11:36 am (UTC)(link)
It's called domain spoofing. It's very common with spam and virus messages. It's very unlikely to be IRD. If you think it is, forward the message to webmaster@ird.govt.nz

Yes, IRD is a part of the core Public Service

BUT IRD IS EVIL. How come my beautiful logical argument hasn't got you convinced?

Okay.

*g* Maybe it's evolving? Sort of like Gmail Text Advertising, which I admit I think is sort of clever although I still wouldn't clikc them.

Heh. Really? Bizarre.

[identity profile] chattycheese.livejournal.com 2005-05-17 10:40 am (UTC)(link)
It looks like german. However, I can't read German. My mom can, but I really don't fell like having her find my LJ. Also, I'm supposed to be grounded at the moment. For numeruous translators, try here (http://german.about.com/library/bltransltxt.htm).

I think [livejournal.com profile] thinkaholic found it for me, so I won't bother translating Nazi propaganda... *sigh* :) thanks though.

Hey, look, I can't- I can't get access to some pages and the application page is one of them, along with the entry page and stuffs... I'm really sorry! But, suggestion, try closing the tables and cells or something?Because it doesn't look like it's closed.

Good luck!
