(no subject)

I can't believe that I cried at a Star Wars movie.

I can't believe that I cried at a new Star Wars movie.

Twice.

Um. I actually really did cry twice, like sobbing. Um.
-The bit where the little kid (I refuse to say "youngling") was looking at Anakin and saying "Master Anakin, what are we going to do?" and he just pulls out his lightsaber and OMG OMG OMG NO. NO NO NO. And I kept crying throguh that sequence because oh, my god, all teh Jedi were dying! Oh!
-"I hate you!" "You were my brother. i loved you." OH OH OH OBI-WAN! ANAKIN! YOU WERE FRIENDS! Oh, my god, I just, I couldn't take it. :( And then he had to walk away, and when he got to the ship he just looked so defeated and broken.

Um um um GEORGE LUCAS WHAT IS WRONG WITH YOU YOU MADE ME CRY WHAT?

Er. Okay, I can't be coherent about it, but I just really, really liked it. Not was good as the original trilogy, but... still.

Random notes, because I can't write properly:
-Padme's stupid, stupid nightie. With beads. Just. I mean. Also, the whole Leia-referential hairdo was okay, but for most of the rest of it.. just, no.
-I thought Anakin and Obi-wan were really cute in the early bits, I wish there'd been more time for actual friendship between them. :(
- FIFTEEN MINUTE LIGHTSABER BATTLE. Seven minutes would have been ENOUGH, George.
-We all still <3 Yoda...
-Chewie!
-Thank god for Ewan McGregor, acting-wise. Also, hotness.
-How come Natalie Portman is eye-crossingly hot in Closer and pretty much plain in SW? I don't get it.
-Wow, I wish I could think of the rest of the thoughts I had about it at the time
-I SO MUCH wanted to watch them original trilogy when I got home that I went and found [livejournal.com profile] sixth_light and we watched A New Hope and talked our way through it because we know it pretty much off by heart. :) This was very cool.

Yeah, my flatmate said she cried about four times during that movie...I must say I almost lost it when Anakin is just about burned to death, but, alas, that was about it!

Ewan was pretty darn awesome...except I really don't much dig the facial hair. Also brilliant acting from the dude who was Senator Palpatine/Darth Sidius. Him and Yoda taking it out was my favourite bit! So much Yoda love...
Natalie...yeah, I reckon she's pretty gorgeous, but acting wise (in SW at least), she's not so hot. My flatmate just about spat tacks at me when I said that, but I don't rate her as an actress at all. Same with Hayden Christiansen- as I said to [livejournal.com profile] sixth_light, he's pretty shaggable, but can't act to save himself. Give me Johnny Depp any day!
That said, he did HEAPS better in this one, than Attack of the Clones.

Must say I enjoyed the 15 minute light sabre battle- was it really that long?!

Ian McDiarmid OWNED that movie, I kid you not. He managed to stay away from teeth-gnashing evil (well, right up until the end) and just be quietly and insidiously terrifying. Although I wish Christopher Lee had got more screen time - poor guy, he always gets dicked when it comes to the third film of trilogies.

You know, I didn't think Palpatine was all that great. It wasn't a particularly difficult or subtle role, unlike Padme which would have been much, much harder to do well.

With you both on Christiansen.

Hm. I'm not exactly a fan of star wars but if you cried then I likely would. I'm easily made to draw tears when it comes to film.

no idea why. Guess I'm a a bit camp.

I dunno, a bunch of girls sitting next to me who bawled their way through A Long Walk To Freedom and The Notebook (chickflicks. Sad as chickflicks go, but they moved me not in the slightest, frankly) didn't even stir. In fact they LAUGHED at one of the bits where I was crying. :(

I agree, 'twas pretty sad, I can't help but think that GEorge Lucas could afford to pay writers though...
