WRT: government: Well, why not appoint a rampant xenophobe for Foreign Affairs?

*spits* I think they dropped the ball, and I'm annoyed at the exclusion of the Greens. That's all I'm going to say, yep yep.

Instead: meme, from all over the place.

Take a look at my icons. Comment with the following:

1. One that makes you automatically think of me.
2. One that you think I should TOTALLY use more often.
3. One that you don't get/needs more explanation/you have no idea why the hell I have it.
Comment using an icon of yours that you LOVE, and tell me why you picked THAT one too.

Uh.
1) Maybe the In Life's Name or the one with Dairine creating universes.
2) Peter with the LotR quote. Maybe it's because it's, like, 3AM here, but I got all choked up over it somehow.
3) Uh... "our love was a grim citadel"

Why I used this icon: Because I like it when the good guys win.

2. It's not just you. I LOVE that icon and it kind of makes my heart go all strained, because Peter is AWESOME and High King. And I love the Penvesies. *happy sigh*

3. It's from a poem that I like a lot, Our Love Was a Grim Citadel (http://www.livejournal.com/users/labellementeuse/134593.html#cutid2) by RAK Mason; and I use it because... um, I guess because I like it. :P it's one of [livejournal.com profile] posticonic's seriously awesome awesome bases and I really like the way the words fit with the picture. *hums* I dunno either, really- it's not really a serious statement about myself, is it? ;) It's just pretty.

:D It is a cool icon.

3. It's from the Narnia trailer! And the keywords for it are FOR NARNIA AND THE KING, which is kind of why I have it because I fucking LOVE those books. And can't wait for the movie. And OMG PENVESIES HEART.

YOUR HOT!JOHN ICONS CREEP ME OUT.

I am going to ring YOUR WORKPLACE tomorrow, if I remember. >:D Maybe YOU WILL ANSWER (are you working tomorrow?). Muahahah.

... I could prank call you.

... but then Carla might pick up and I really need this job.

HOT!JOHN WINS! RESISTANCE IS FUTILE!

It is very likely that I will pick up, as I always pick up, and it's never for me. Warg.

1. "Lord, what fools these mortals be"
2. The dandelion one.
3. The only thing I don't get about any of them is the "Dr. Brash" bit, but that's just because I'm not from New Zealand, isn't it?
4. Why I love this icon? It's Yuca, from Immortal Rain, which is an amazing manga. And he's creepy and I'm really proud of the layout on this icon :)
ext_2569: text: "a straight account is difficult, so let me define seven wishes" image: man on steps. (not mainstream PRIDE brash-bashing)

3. Yeah- Don Brash is the leader of the Opposition, the right-wing party National. In the election campaign (he lost, fortunately for all concerned) he actually said his party was campaigning for the "mainstream New Zealand." Of course he refused to define "mainstream." The whole thing just made me sick to my stomach, because it's such a divisive tactic- it creates a "them" and an "us"- and yeah. Ew. Then, two nights before the election, he actually said that he believed people who voted Labour were not mainstream. *disgusted/amused* So that's, what, 41% of the country, then? What the hell kind of non-mainstream is that?

[identity profile] bad-mushroom.livejournal.com 2005-10-19 03:29 am (UTC)(link)
Eesh. That's like Bushisms--you just can't believe they said that.

[identity profile] disturbed-kiwi.livejournal.com 2005-10-18 11:50 pm (UTC)(link)
1. Life's Sake
2. Lord, what fools these mortals be.
3. The Running River (I can't read the writing.)

My icon? I only have three. Cartoon Me, Disc May Day Specific and funny Kiwi rock about boozing.

3. The text reads For oh, what running river/Can stand against the sea. it's from a poem my Eileen Duggan which I posted somewhere around here called "The Tides Run Up The Wairau." it's very awesome.

[identity profile] chattycheese.livejournal.com 2005-10-19 01:48 am (UTC)(link)
1. The Armageddon one.
2. Puck (whoo!)
3. "Peter the King"

This one made me laugh. And conisdering my current worries of the diriection the Church is heading in (what, with Dracula as the Pope and the banning of gay priests and condemning of Harry Potter), it's quite apropo. Bu mostly, I'd just LOVE to try it.

3. OMG you don't get this? it's Peter Penvesie, High King of Narnia! And! And! "my brother"! :D Edmund! Love! *hyperventilating Penvesie Adoration*

XD I never considered the notion- till I saw your icon, amnd now it's like all I can think about when I see the Pope. ;)

[identity profile] chattycheese.livejournal.com 2005-10-19 10:36 am (UTC)(link)
We had a chance to hang with the bishop a few weeks ago, and I wanted to ask if he could put on his little pop-up hat and we could try it.

He did let little kids throw hula-hoops at him, once. But he's just the Bishop. A wee bit too low on the totem pole.
ext_2569: text: "a straight account is difficult, so let me define seven wishes" image: man on steps. (full to the brim with you)

[identity profile] labellementeuse.livejournal.com 2005-10-20 05:34 am (UTC)(link)
That's awfully cute, though. :) I'm sure many Bishops would be too stuck-up...

3. I'm fairly sure I understand them all, but give me your ideas on the text in: Image

=)

4. I love this icon because I use it when I'm extra happy. =D
ext_2569: text: "a straight account is difficult, so let me define seven wishes" image: man on steps. (in which dairine kicks ass)

3. Hmm. Well, it's from a neat poem- I think it's Seven Wishes by Fiona Farrel, so when I see the icon I think about the whole poem, which starts "Now let me define seven wishes" and one of them is "that we should exchange ordinary tales." This is the same for all my poetry icons, I think about them in the context of the poem.</I. So they're a little opaque if you don't know the poem sometimes. ;) I really should type the poem up except I'm sure I've done it already somewhere... anyway. I tagged it with 'spy lady' which is the image ;) 'friends' because the poem's about wanting to be closer, and 'ordinary tales', so I use it when I'm talking about daily life and stuff. :P Man, that's such a confused answer. I think the text is about wanting to be closer to whoever I'm using it in conversation with, although sometimes I use it just because spy lady is hot. ;)
