I know that when I say this,
I may be stepping on pins and needles;
But I don't like all these people
slagging her for breaking up the Beatles.
(Don't blame it on Yokey!)

THE END.

GOD PEOPLE JUST STOP SLAGGING HER. WAH.

Insert stuff here about the fannish bill of rights and the right to love and hate in your own journals however the hell you want, and I really believe that (except things like the communuties where they go out of their way to find bad fanfiction and take it to pieces? I hate that. And sometimes FW turns me right the fuck off but.) HOWEVER JESUS PEOPLE LISTEN TO YOURSELVES TALK. I saw someone say somewhere - I think TWOP, and I know I should know better than to go there anyway - that they hadn't made a judgement on Jo until this episode and they really couldn't put their finger on why they hated her so much but they really did!1!!

If you believe that you believe in heaven. Seriously? If you can't even think of a reason why you don't like Jo, you ether don't want to admit that you hate her because she's a love interest for Dean and she's breaking up the wincest or you... really lack any kind of introspection at all. I love Sam and I love Dean and I love Sam/Dean and Sam&Dean and all the rest of it, but having a semi occasionally recurring character is not going to destroy the dynamic. Really. Honestly. And Dean is not a real person, guys, you're NEVER going to get with him so she's not really getting in the way... really...

Also, seems to me like a lot of the people who post-No Exit are complaining about there not being enough Sam were also the people complaining about there being too much Sam in Simon Said. Do with that what you will.

Finally, I've read (unconfirmed) that the ending of No Exit was designed so that if fannish reaction towards Jo was negative it could be her last appearance. Which SUCKS big time but also... um. If Kripke is remotely in touch with his fans, which I think he is in some possibly disturbing ways, he must have known that any kind of romantic foil for Dean would be met with immediate and significantly irrational hate. He must have. So I don't really know what to do with that other than to talk about how much I love Jo and want her to stick around. :-/

I've heard that too, but only second hand as I believe it was released in spoilery interviews prior to the season starting. I can probably ask someone who'd know. I may even have it in my "here be spoilers" folder but I'm afraid of that.

I thought she was pretty good too - I related to her as a 17y-o but I liked her as that; and ignoring all the FW (which seems mostly to be related to people being spoiled) I quite enjoyed seeing her trying to flirt with Dean and have a huge crush which he just didn't quite know how to deal with. At that level I thought it REALLY worked (and meant that Jo and Sam in the back seat was tres amusant too).

Ohhh... sorry, DT's on the Telly atm and Sam's spouting latin. I'm distracted :D

Oh, I'm pretty sure he broke it filming - no, I was thinking about Sam's absence from the ep being a consequence of having surgery, etc.

I knew from before the season that she was supposed to be 21 and all that stuff from the diaries, so I read her as older than people who hadn't read the diaries did, I think; plus, and this might sound a little silly, but as a 19yo myself it wasn't all that unbelievable to me that she might be 21. I know quite a few 21yos and some of them are awfully grown up and mature and blah blah blah and some of them have all the maturity of my 14yo sister; Jo fits somewhere in between which honestly suits me fine. :P

Ooh, lucky you!

I think that was mentioned in an interview somewhere too.

I didn't see her as the same character who had written the diaries - although they've changed those recently and now gell better with the character on screen. I know what you mean about different people appearing different ages, but she just seemed too consistently young to me (then I am ancient and will shortly be hitting people with a stick and saying "when I were a lass.."). I couldn't gell her level of niavetiy with the life she'll have lead in the road house - a roughish bar full of hunters who she hustles? - as younger she did totally work for me though so I can work that in my head if I have to :D
