Apparently comment notifications are down, so uh. Yeah, if you're not commenting in my personal journal chances are good I won't notice.

Whenever there's a post in a dl comm I'm a member of saying "Do not ask for people to upload the new episode! Wait patiently!" I feel a really intense urge to post along the lines of "WHY CAN'T SOMEONE UPLOAD A BIT FASTER, I'VE BEEN WAITING LIKE FIVE MINUTES ALREADY." The urge gets stronger every time and I'm a member of quite a few dl comms. *twitch*

I'm pretty much just updating to put off packing, but since I have a doctor's appt in an hour I think I've managed to put it off just enough that I have an excuse.

The guys at Global PC are still fabulously wonderful; my XHD's adaptor spontaneously upped and died yesterday, I took it in today, and they swapped it out in about two seconds flat. <3

Torchwood was great this week!

Americans! Don't forget to vote! Also, that GOP robo-call thing is pretty bizarre. Sometimes I worry about corruption in our country, and then I think about the way the Republicans are going to totally get away with that, and I feel better. (So, guys: make me less of an arrogant prick about the superiority of my country! Elect Democrats: They're Marginally Better!)

They're Marginally Better is a much more attractive way of putting it (I've been saying "The Lesser of Two Evils. Really Evil Evils.")

I really feel so sorry for you all this election (are you voting? I forget if you're old enough yet.) Although I guess since there are more candidates, some of them are actually attractive, if you're living in the right areas - last time, the Kerry vs Bush debates were so damn depressing. Pretty much all he had going for him was not being Bush (see: Why He Lost.) Whereas this time round I know at least some of the candidates are worthwhile, even if lots of them only have the not-quite-a-Republican problem. :-/

Mm, no, I can't vote quite yet. I will be able to aid in the hoped-for Defeat of The Damned Republicans in the next presidential election, but not this time around.

(Which is actually a shame, because Maine is being screwed over in the governor department; our current one, Baldacci, is a democrat but a pretty lousy one, and his republican opponent is the scariest republican alive--but there's a pretty prominent green candidate (because Maine is awesome like that) and I would love to vote in her direction.)

But yeah, there are some pretty good dems out there this year. Hopefully they'll retake the House (and maybe the Senate).

Don't even talk to me about Kerry. Gah. Why????? ARGH.

So, guys: make me less of an arrogant prick about the superiority of my country!

It might help to think back to the last Social Report and the way that all parliamentary parties and the mainstream media told the people, "Oh, don't worry about rising poverty, infant mortality, and the rest of the wide array of horrific social factors: we're working to help the rapidly shrinking married suburban middle class!"

Elect Democrats: They're Marginally Better!

No, they're not. They are a big-business party of war, economic exploitation and political disenfranchisement. By calling on others to vote for that party, you are endorsing a criminal platform - is that really what you want to do?

Don't even talk to me about it. I was furious with the way Labour reacted to it, absolutely livid. God, I'm getting pissed off again just thinking about it.

I do think they are fractionally better than the GOP, though. So, yeah. I will endorse almost anyone to the left of Bush because they're the only ones with a chance of getting rid of him, and frankly the man makes me want to kill things. I am all for limiting his power as much as possible, which means electing Democrats even when they are criminals.

Glad I could help. ;-)

How does the election of Democrats put a limit on President Bush? They voted for war in Afghanistan; they voted for war in Iraq; they'll vote for war in Iran. They consistently turn a blind eye to centralisation of power.

They're bought and paid for by the same interests.

I've had Ben Stein and Arnold Schwarzenegger "robocall" me in the last 48 hours. Both were all about reelecting... you guessed it, Arnold. I haven't received any silly calls about a candidate being slandered with the desire to protect terrorists, yet. However, I have received robocalls in the past to sign petitions to protect marriage between a man and a woman in the same breath as preventing child predation. That really irritated me. It was as if to suggest that all homosexuals are child predators, therefore allowing gay marriage would destroy America's children. Anyway. I'm voting for The Peace and Freedom party, just to help give them +1 vote at the polls. they need all the motivation they can get, despite them being yet another party with revisionist politics.
