I've just been spoiled by my flist for the first time in a very long time. Can't believe we have to have this discussion again, but... people live outside the States! They don't get to watch things as they air! If, on Sunday, a brand-new episode aired, then major content from that episode is STILL A SPOILER THAT MONDAY. Yes, you can choose to be an asshole and say that it's not a spoiler after the episode airs, but WHY BE AN ASSHAT. seriously.

I don't know what you're talking about. There are no other countries outside America. (My favourite thing about SGA fandom is that for the first 10 episodes Canada screams DON'T SPOIL ME, and then they catch up on the hiatus and air the rest, so America screams DON'T EVEN THINK ABOUT SPOILING ME and the rest of the world cries REVENGE!)

Heh. [livejournal.com profile] sixth_light was telling me the other day about a big blow-up on the Heroes forum at TWOP the other day, because TWOP's spoiler policy is that on certain boards nothing is a spoiler once it's aired in America. Obviously what that really means is that on these boards you can talk about anything as soon as it's aired, but no pre-ep spoilers like sides or whatever. However, Canada's been getting it early for the past two weeks for some reason and there was this kerfuffle because what most people thought was, hey, it's aired, we've seen it and we don't normally get to see it until hours or days after the americans have already been discussing it - we can discuss it now. Apparently this is a NONO. *eyeroll*

Worst thing is, they were trying to discuss it IN THE SPOILER THREAD, i.e. so non-spoiler whores would stay unspoiled. But nooooooo. Seriously, do they think Canadians are non-people or something? Or that if they opened an episode thread then people who were dumb enough to click into it and get spoiled wouldn't deserve what they got?

It just bugs me because there are other shows (*coughDoctorWhocough*) where they're whole seasons ahead of America, and those boards seem to manage having places for the Brits to chat about the latest season and places for the Americans to discuss the old one just fine. People remain unspoiled for literally six months or more. Do they really think Heroes fans are so dumb they couldn't hack one day of this?
