- On the plus side, wow, could House have a more pure unrequited love for Wilson? "I was just looking for you... I just wanted you to pick me up." Wow. With emotional tears, no less.
- The writing, acting, cinematography, etc of this whole two-parter was pretty unbelievably excellent.
- On the minus side: fuck, man, one woman sacrificed for the emotional development of House and Wilson and another one on the way. Someone in a comm I'm in suggested that, given this was the planned mid-season finale, it's possible 13 and the new ducklings were meant to be disposed of by the end of this season - 13 dead or incapacitated because of Huntington's and Taub and Cutner... leaving. (She reasoned in this way because of the fact that the original ducklings are still in the credits together.) This kind of disposal of 13 seems unlikely because Huntington's typically takes more than 15 years to kill you once the first physical symptoms are manifest - 13 doesn't seem to have any of these yet anyway. Nevertheless, I find the general thrust of this disturbing: of the four characters chosen for further character development, the boys get out unscathed and the girls are dead and diagnosed with an (eventually) fatal disease.
- On the other other hand: at least the girls got some development. I'm never getting over the fact that Mormon Dude got canned: I wanted to know more about his deal. I didn't want to know anything about *any* of the three characters who were picked, but people suggested to me that it was this way so that these characters could be given further development. Awesome - but Taub and Cutner are as boring now as they were at the beginning of the season (subjective) and about as developed (objective.) Meanwhile, 13's chief interesting characteristic is the now-confirmed fact that she's dying! Great. This would have been easier to take if it hadn't coincided with the brutal sacrifice of Amber on the altar of House/Wilson.

Of course, since I have a very low emotional threshold, that's not really a surprise. I did think that they amped up the whole "Amber is dying" thing a bit much (twenty minutes?) but that might have been because I was bawling. --''

And and he was my favourite character T________T <= assuming that's vague enough to convey my amount of upset-ness without spoilers.

I might edge it higher to a 9/10 (I liked wannabe better too, but that's just cos it didn't break my heart.) God, these were just the worst fucking finales to watch back-to-back. *destroyed*
Spoilerific pity party in the next post!
