YOU are the problem. YES. YOU. Turn off your television, change the channel, stop buying the magazines, stop watching CBS clips and E clips and whatever and stop reading online magazines. Get off your judgemental high horses because this wouldn't be happening if the show didn't have good ratings.

I complain because I don't watch reality shows, I don't buy entertainment mags and I don't watch E!.

I still hear about it. And believe me I bitch when I do.

Yeah. It's not big here because the show doesn't air here, but it's popped up enough on my flist, and then there was a post in a community the other day with an upload of the episode and there were all these people going "thanks, was so sorry to miss this on TV" or "want to watch this again" or whatever and then would go into a little spiel about how SAD what's happening is and I'm just like OH COME ON.

... what is Jon & Kate + 8? It's a reality show about a family with eight kids, yes? (You can see how much I've watched the show; I haven't a clue what the furor is about.)

I've bee avoiding details because the whole thing grosses me out but I'm pretty sure one of them cheated, they're getting divorced and the nation is watching. Which I'm just like. STOP WATCHING. Have some respect.

The point about the eight kids is that there's a pair of twins and there's a set of sextuplets and these kids were *young* when they started - like, one and four or something. And I totally get why they did it, because eight kids is a lot and six at once is like... I mean both parents at home would barely take care of them let alone keep them in nappies.

What's the furor about, exactly, anyway?

I figured there was enough disgust about them exploiting their kids for money. I think I watched like fifteen minutes once. I didn't think it was very good.

As far as I can tell from comments on the flist, one of them had an affair and they're getting divorced. on prime time television.

I saw an episode or two from the earlier seasons where they were basically just doing it to be able to feed their family and I enjoyed them, but at this point I think continuing to watch the show and participate in this is basically a roman circus: everyone who is watching and participating in this shit is basically paying them to continue.
