A. Filling up the zillion icon spots that came with the paid account someone bought me, and right now I feel awful because I can't remember who it was or whether or not it was an anon. Either way, if whoever it was is reading this now, 1) if I ever knew who you were and I've forgotten, I'm so sorry that I'm an asshole! and 2) either way, I'm still very grateful. Because of this, I now really want that tell-me-about-6-of-your-icons meme to come back around and I'm cursing the fact that it just went by two weeks ago. Oh, comic timing.
B. Organising my tags. You know how LJ has that merge tags thing that sucks? Yeah. Tag management on Dreamwidth actually works and it is really really good, so I have been going back through - still not quite done, I think I'm through to w though, which is really quite good!
C. Pursuant to B., I imported all my old LJ entries. This is a round-about way of saying that if you're looking for something I wrote (unlikely but you never know),labellementeuse is the best place to go for it; it's where the tags are most likely to be coherently organised, although I fear I can't guarantee anything.
Also, and I probably should have asked BEFORE I did this, but what that means is that if you have commented on my journal in the past, those comments are now also archived at Dreamwidth. I believe they can still be accessed through openID and the usual deletey stuff done to them if you so wish, so it's functionally not a big change to the status quo, but nevertheless. If you have a problem with your comments having been imported, please let me know.
D. I think of myself as living at DW now, so while I will continue to crosspost to LJ and read over there (apart from anything else all the good TV comms are over there), I'm trying as much as I can to move whatever can be moved over to Dreamwidth. So if you have a Dreamwidth, please add me over there! Let me know who you are if your names are radically different.
4. I marathoned the whole of Community this weekend! It is very very funny and generally recommended, altho' I have a few reservations about some things.
5. Relatedly, I know there are people who identify as ace on my flist. Are any of you aware of any meta about either Sheldon from TBBT or Abed from Community, or both, in the context of fandom's approach to asexuality? (I think this is the thing that has really bothered me: I think Sheldon/Penny and Abed/Troy are super, super cute pairings and I'm a little bit worried about that. But then again, can't men relate the same way to women as they do to men* without being asexual? Isn't that the dream?)

3. (Or is it 4?) COMMUNITY. <3 I am not all caught up, but I do think it is for the most part adorable. Except when it gets embarrassment squicky (I do not have a big embarrassment squick, but Señor Chang tends to set it off) or when it gets faily. But it's still quite cute and happy!

1. The first character I fell in love with: Bilboooooo. Actually, probably, Bilbo's house.
2. The character I never expected to love as much as I do now: I don't know if I can answer that question - LOTR and the Hobbit are so fundamental to my reading life that they're really what I base my expectations around.
3. The character everyone else loves that I don’t: I don't really care for Gimli that much.
4. The character I love that everyone else hates: I don't know who everyone hates. Arwen, maybe? it seems like people would hate Arwen. But I can't say that I love her because I'm trying to answer with the book, rather than the movies, in mind and it's not like she ever actually speaks in the book.
5. The character I would shag anytime: Eowyn
6. The character I'd want to be like: Sam, actually, although with slightly less of the devotion. But I'd like to be practical and reliable.

re: Community. I actually have a relatively sensitive embarassment squick so I've done a little skipping with Senor Chang. (also, why do they call him Senior Chang? Is that how you say Senor and I'm just iggerant? Like, I know it's not just Senor like it 'looks' to an English speaker, but. IDK.) But I rilly rilly like Britta, Annie, Abed, Troy, and Shirley, which is a pretty great success rate for me in a comedy, so! (I even like Jeff quite a lot of the time! Especially when he's being platonic with Britta.)

11. My five favorite things about the fandom: I love everyone. Seriously, DD fans are the best. I like recognising most names. But equally, I love the stealth appeal of the fandom - a lot of times I've seen a comment or a yuletide fic by someone who I know who I had no idea had even read the books! And we seriously bring it in Yuletide. I love the meta, I especially love experiential meta where people talk about the way they've been affected by the series - in most fandoms I just kind of go *eyeroll* but in this fandom, I find it moving. I love it that the fandom has a pretty good sense of humour about itself and about canon. I love the fandom's playfulness.
12. My five least favorite things about the fandom: Straight up, I'd really like some porn in this goddamned fandom. Het, slash, whatever! Also, I'd like some long plotty fic. I'd like a leetle more variety in the pairings that are written. Basically I would like the fandom to be as big as... hm. Perhaps as big as Due South fandom is presently? Or DCU fandom presently. I'd like the LJ comms to be as active as the forums, altho this is mainly just my whining because I hate having to check too many places. And I guess I'd like Nita/Kit fic to be a little bit less Two Teens In Love 4Eva Sparkles. (I mean, they are in love! Forever! With sparkles! But also, with realism and fighting and bitching and not always being perfect schmoopy heteronormative TV-people.)

Dairine/Roshaun is... I kind of hate to say this, but it seems a little too cliche? Like, the characters themselves, not so much, but the tropes and relationship matrix surrounding them is so much the kind of story I have seen so many times elsewhere and didn't much like then, either. THEY HATE EACH OTHER, but really they just need to see the others' ~VULNERABILITY~ so they can learn RESPECT and then find out they've been in love the whole time. Eh. If I'm going for a dynamic I've seen so often elsewhere, I will go for one that hits my id. (Hi, Lone One; yes, I mean you.)

Yeah, I think you've pinpointed what I don't really like about D/R. (Also SHE'S TOO DAMN YOUNG. there I said it.) Also her hair is the same colour as Nelaid's???
K/R/D! It's mostly because of Mars! I basically just want standard buddy slash with all the tropes that go with it. They were so damn adorkable hanging out doing the teenage boy thing! On my hardrive somewhere is the beginning of a Kit/Ronan fic set just before college in which they roadtrip across the USA and end up having a lot of sex, same kind of idea. (Nita is gay or dating someone else. I really want to have her be dating Joanne because that's my OTP. But then I wondered if that was too much everyone-is-gay.)
