Only got a few seconds because I'm about to go out to Carmen, but I wanted to mention to the YW peoples on my f-list that DD HAS JUST STARTED UP AN EXTENDED FAN-COMPILATION FIC. Basically it's a WIP that will have chapters added on by everyone including DD- catch that everyone who wants submits a scene, members vote, and the winning scene is picked. Oooh. Enjoy Carmen - I think I'm going to see it this weekend. I'd have rather seen Grease but my mother.... she likes to drag me along to whatever she wants to see regardless of my input. If I say nothing she takes me anyway and if I say no she whines.

If so, totally enjoy it. We're playing that in orchestra, and boy is it fun. xD

Yep. XD I've played it too, but only a, like, scaled-down school orchestra version of the overture (Which was great; they started playing and I started bouncing up and down in my seat going "Squeee carmen!!!11!!" (In my head, of course).

The music and singing and casting and set and stuff was great, plus Louise P and Jesse U were in it, so that was cool watching them (Children's Chorus). Still, I really felt that the choreograph and much of the stage direction was lacking... I saw the ballet, not the opera, one or two years ago and it was SO amazing (the RNZB is so good) and the choreography was So good (obviously) that it was kinda depressing. Still, everything else was really fantastic, so....

We're playing the real thing, and it's killing me. Luckily, the only thing we really have to worry about is the fifth part...I think something Toreades? I have no idea, and no memory, besides. xD

Yeah, it sucks whenever things don't quite hold up to your expectations or standards. But I'm glad you had fun! ;D I've only managed to catch about eight minutes of Carmen while it was playing on TV once...depressing!

Sounds right... but hey, it's got to be MUCH more interesting than our bowdlerized and disembowelled and basically DESTROYED version, right?

My sympathies, though...

Mmm, yeah. But it was still good- whoever it was that was Carmen was FANtastic, truly.
