Frankenstein Mix 2: American Wife

I changed the order of questions in this one, and now I think it tells a really defined story. A horrible story, but hey, it's a story.

Frankenstein Mix 2: American Wife

1. A song you would use to pump up a sports arena.

Alien Ant Farm, “Smooth Criminal”

You’ve been hit by
You’ve been struck by
A smooth criminal.

2. A song you dance to when you're alone.

Pink, “Stupid Girls”

What happened to the dream of a girl president?
She’s dancing in the video next to 50 Cent
.

3. A song you completely misunderstood the first time you heard it.

Bic Runga (Live with the Christchurch Symphony Orchestra), “One More Cup Of Coffee

But I don’t sense affection,
No gratitude or love;
Your loyalty is not to me
But to the stars above.

4. A song that mentions gambling

Simon & Garfunkel, Blues Run The Game

Living is a gamble, baby,
Loving’s much the same.

5. A song with a title that ends in n.

The Beatles, Revolution

We all want to change the world
But when you talk about destruction
Don't you know that you can count me out
Don't you know it's gonna be all right
all right, all right.

6. A song you only like half of the time.

Tracy Chapman, “Fast Car”

We all want to change the world
But when you talk about destruction
Don't you know that you can count me out
Don't you know it's gonna be all right
all right, all right

7. A song that could inspire a novel.

Goldenhorse, American Wife

I'm your American Wife today
I'm your American Wife

Baking a tasty delightful loaf
Collecting and taking the children home
Sit on the sofa and turn the TV on

8. A song you know is a cover song, but for which you've never heard the original.

Tori Amos, ’97 Bonnie and Clyde

But you know your mama, she's one of those type of women
that do crazy things, and if she don't get her way, she'll throw a fit

9. A song that made you cry shamelessly when it was used on a TV show.

Michelle Branch, Goodbye to You

I've been searching deep down in my soul
Words that I'm hearing are starting to get old
Looks like I'm starting all over again
The last three years were just pretend, and I say
Goodbye to you.

10. A song that makes you drive faster.

Chicago, Cell Block Tango

He had it coming
He had it coming
He took a flower
In its prime
And then he used it
And he abused it
It was a murder
But not a crime!

A song you wish TPTB would use on a TV show.
Ella Fitzgerald, Miss Otis Regrets

They strung her upon the old willow across the way,
And the moment before she died,
She lifted up her lovely head and cried, madam......
Miss Otis regrets, she's unable to lunch today.

An educational song.

Jimi Hendrix, The Star-Spangled Banner/Purple Haze Live at Woodstock

This song has no lyrics. I decided to upload the whole 13 minutes of this live, rather than just the Star Spangled Banner part that I have because I think this one is more faithful. And it’s more powerful in its context, because this was designed to be a protest against the Vietnam war, a deliberate desecration of the American national anthem... I think that is easily forgotten in studio recorded versions but this one you can hear gunfire, bombs, fear. It’s amazing, and beautiful; and today, when being angry with America is commonplace, even fashionable, we must remember that it’s only from within, it’s only this acutely American protest that is truly useful.

The Tori Amos cover is awesome and creepy. The whole song is, actually. Took the Michelle Branch song.

Something you might like Don't Marry Her (Fuck Me) (http://www.sendspace.com/file/8tpwjy).

Oh, god, tell me about it. I don't drive, but it was originally my drive faster song, just because it scares the crap out of me. *shudder*

Oh, I do like it! Thanks! :)

Yeah, me too. :) I didn't actually cry, but I figure, it was sad. Plus it's the only song-from-a-TV-show I've ever actually recognised. :P

ahahahah Giles' hat.

Thank you so much, especially for the unedited Hendrix - you're so very right about that.

Grabbing everything.
