1. A song that mentions the sun.

Bic Runga - Say After Me

Raze to the ground,
I'll burn you down
Before you go and break me.
Burn like the sun
What has become
of you and me, my baby?

This song was almost my song for Fire, until I heard Jimi. I think it maybe would fit better under fire. Also, this song is Dairine/Roshaun OTP. (lyrics. Moon glow, fire... burn like the sun? c'mon.) Also-also, this is the version she recorded live with the Christchurch Symphony Orchestra; there are minor lyrical differences, for example.

2. A song that mentions snow.

Tegan & Sara - Terrible Storm

We buried in the snow
I kept warm inside of your clothes
You swore that nothing would ever change
The way we were right then.

So nearly picked "Fast Times in Tahoe". But in the end decided I didn't like the tone.

3. A song that mentions fire:

Jimi Hendrix - Fire

I have only one burning desire,
Let me stand next to your fire.
(Oh! Move over, rover,
And let Jimi take over!)

4. A song that mentions lightning.

Paul Simon - The Cool, Cool River

I believe in the future, I may live in my car
My radio tuned to the voice of a star
Song dogs barking at the break of dawn
Lightning pushes the edges of a thunderstorm

This lyric segment provies my journal title and subtitle, as well as my flist page title. I love it to pieces. Mmm.

5. A song that mentions the wind.

The Muttonbirds - Wellington

I wish I was in Wellington
The weather's not so good
The wind it cuts right through you,
And it rains more than it should
But I'd be there tomorrow
If I only could,
Oh I wish I was in Wellington.

I miss my hometown a lot. :-/

6. A song that mentions the sea.

Ella Fitzgerald - Between the Devil & the Deep Blue Sea

should hate you
But I guess I love you
You've got me in between
The devil and the deep blue sea.

7. A song that mentions rocks.

Vienna Teng - My Medea

Inside the labyrinth walls
There lies a tiny child who sleeps alone
And as the daylight falls
The wind becomes so wild across the stone.

This song is gorgeous and amazing. Lush and beautiful. I think I actually d/ld it from someone else but mmmmm it's so lovely.

8. A song that mentions the earth.

Poe - Fly Away

It makes sense that it should happen this way
That the sky should break, and the earth should shake
As if to say: Sure it all matters but in such an
unimportant way
.

BONUS TRACKS:

The Muttonbirds - Fear the Reaper

The seasons don't fear the reaper
Nor do the wind, the sun and the rain
.

http://www.megaupload.com/?d=HAFCTR3Q

Crowded House - Four Seasons In One Day

Even when you're feeling warm
The temperature could drop away
Like four seasons in one day
.

Bonuses I didn't have time to upload, but if you would like them, yell and I'lll upload them: Paul Simon, Was a Sunny day, Born at the Right Time; Elemeno P, Fast Times in Tahoe; The Veils, The Tide That Left & Never Came Back... think that was all. Man, there were just way too many choices for these.

Both front and back cover art are photographs from here of the eruption of Mount Ruapehu, in the North Island, about ten years ago.

So dead. I should have remembered Tahoe. *facepalm* Maybe just because I think of the lyrics I sang to one bored bus trip.

I was going to do this, but none of my songs really fit the terms. Hence the above.

(That cover of Don't Fear the Reaper is better than the other version I heard.)

*grin* Seriously, it took me ages first to think of songs that mentioned them - rocks, seriously? The only song in my archive with rocks in it (har har) is "I am a Rock" and I really wasn't planning on uploading that!! But I was amazed what I could find for snow. Say After Me actually has snow in it as well.

(I love the cover, I just found it last night. XD)

I love love love the Medea song. It's so fabulous. And in iTunes, the next song down is Chopin's Sonata No.2, and I didn't really hear that much difference between the two when it switched, which was really neat.

Hee, I came wandering by and blinked at the first song. "Say what? Someone knows that song? AND that she did that with the CSO?" And then I saw the Muttonbirds and all became clear. Sometimes one forgets one isn't the only kiwi on the internets, :D With that in mind, could you reupload Wellington, please? I miss it myself, although technically my hometown is Invercargill and I ought to be watching Anthony Hopkins mangle my accent in order to feel close to home. But my flatmate -- an Oamaru girl -- tells me I'm more Wellingtonian than Invervegan anyhow, ^_~

And I also adore Vienna Teng. Also used to think I was the only one who knew of her, aside from the girl who introduced me to her music...
