It's an LJ clone - sort of, except it has a whole range of features that are way improved, it's specifically designed to be easy for fandom to colonise (and is fandom-friendly), and it has a bunch of other things going for it. Check out [livejournal.com profile] synecdochic and there should be some links, or you can probably google dreamwidth by now and get it. :)
