Oh my god, there are sane people in my country, I promise! We have three gay MPs (I think... I lose track sometime...) and a MTF transgender Maori ex-prostitute in Cabinet, our three top positions go to women, last two terms we had a Hungarian-born British-educated rastafarian with MASSIVE dreadlocks, we have civil unions and Prostution Reform Bill and everything, oh my god please don't JUDGE US BY THIS TIT. *whimpers* Look article about PC in NZ! (http://203.97.5.87/inline/critic/view_article.php?issue=Critic2005_12&article=article33) from Critic, the Victoria Uni student rag.

On the other hand, this guy is a representative of the chief Opposition party, who campaigned on- among other things- the "mainstream New Zealand" (their leader, two nights before the election, actually said that anyone who voted for Labour was not "mainstream." (Hence icon...) Mainstream is the party now in Government, with 2% more votes than National. I find it incredibly frustrating how, by dint of being a Major Party, they are condoning as "mainstream" what is really fringe rhetoric. it's like some sick sleight of hand and it's killing me.

But we're really not all that bad... honest...
