You know what I would really like? If just once in a teenage drama, the surly butch dyke girl really was a lesbian. I mean, yay, not enforcing stereotypes and all that good stuff, but on the other hand - yay, lesbians! Am I the only person who feels this way?

ETA: ALSO. Pet peeve! If a character is dead, or undead, and can speak, they must have some kind of rudimentary breathing system. Sure, they don't need it to keep alive, but they do need it to create, for example, almost every speech sound. If a character can speak, they can probably also give mouth-to-mouth. OKAY?

Woah.

I made this exact same post (http://jo-nzl.livejournal.com/2098.html), three years ago.

Freaky.

*hands wave* I mean --! You know, every now and then lesbians are really butch, and gay men are really effeminate, and it annoys me that the effeminate man now gets to be gay but the butch woman still can't be.

Also, Becky Wahlstrom, poor man's Clea Duvall, yes/yes?

Haven't seen the show, but personally I feel lesbians make everything better, and also the heteronormative in the media sucks.
To quote a friend: "This movie has lesbians in it? This is the best day ever."

Maybe characters should be ABLE to breathe, but not necessarily NEED to breathe? ^^

ExACTly. Yet I just saw an episode (of another show, not JOA, but w/e) in which a dead character had angst because he couldn't give someone CPR. Since he angsted about this aloud, I have no sympathy. At all.

In fact, since they're taking air in and then expelling it unchanged in order to speak, they will be even better at giving CPR than a live person, because they won't just be breathing mostly de-oxygenated, carbon dioxide-laden air into the CPR-needing person's mouth, they'll be giving them fully oxygenated air. Thus rendering Angel's whole angsty-speech POINTLESS.

Mind you, it was all Joss's way of showing how Xander is better for Buffy because he's alive, so. *eyeroll*

I wasn't even thinking of Angel, actually - in fact, I'm pretty sure Angel has canonically given CPR. I was thinking of someone who's still spoilery, though, so I won't mention it. But yeah, it's lametarded!

Whatever he may have done in his own show, Angel made a very big fuss about not being able to give CPR to Buffy in the Season 1 finale. He had to go and find Xander and make him do it (thus, you know, DECREASING BUFFY'S CHANCES OF NON-BRAIN-DAMAGED SURVIVAL.) I remember watching it and being all "bwuh?"

*snicker*

I love that show, even for its gross and very obvious scientific negligences. XD
