... for Christchurch Today (and last night).

Last Night: Hail. Lots and lots of hail. Lightening. Lots and lots of lightening. Thunder. Ditto. Did I mention the hail? Oh, yeah, gale-force winds. And hail.

It was sort of fairly thrilling and very noisy and ran for at least an hour. Good times; at eleven we went out onto Ilam fields and ran around and just generally behaved in a manner like to children's. It was great.

Today: This morning: bitterly, bitterly cold. I went upstairs after breakfast and advised the others strongly not to leave the building; there were still puddles of hail around the trees and on the edges of footpaths. Some of the streets were actually full-on flooded, like half a foot of water outside the UCSA.

Then I went to Riccarton to get a friend a birthday present (on which more later). I got a lift there but had to catch a bus home, which was fine, except that walking across Ilam Fields, yes, you guessed it, it started to hail. And rain. And oh my god SO MUCH HAIL. To fully understand this you need to know that by the time I got home and got up to the fourth floor, my hair was soaking and not all the hail had melted yet. Fucking cold? Oh, yes. There was also a little thunder but not much lightening.

Um, so, yeah! Very exciting! :D :D :D

Also I had an audition for the MuSoc production of The Fiend, which went surprisingly well- just singing and reading at this stage although they may get us to do some dancing at some point. It was good, I was sort of nervous though so I wasn't as comfortable as I usually am acting. I hope that improves when I know the people more. :-/ But as I said it went really well, by my standards, I'm only worried that they won't cast me because I mentioned I played an instrument and I'm pretty sure they're going begging for instrumentalists so. But never mind I'll almost certainly be doing something, which is all I really wanted anyway (would prefer chorus, but orchestra is also A++).

And finally, a request for your help. As I mentioned it's a friend's birthday tomorrow, and she said not to get her anything but I decided I'd go for something cheap and dumb and funny, because I saw a $2 game of Snakes and Ladders in Whitcoulls. Anyway, the idea is that I make it into Snakes and Ladders: the University Drinking Game. The idea is that there'll be two piles, one of Snakes, one of Ladders, and that as you play, every time you hit a snake or a ladder you take a card and do what it tells you. But I need at least fifteen, preferably twenty cards for each and I can only think of seven SO.... I need some ideas for cards! Example of a Ladder card: "In a desperate attempt to clear your student debt or at least get enough cash to eat this week, you sell your body for medical research. Smart thinking! Two drinks." Example of a Snake card: "When you sold your body for medical research, you forgot you needed your liver. You undergo a series of brutal operations to avoid alcohol poisoning. Better have another drink."

Um, yeah. I know it's kind of silly but I need some ideas- anything that's sort of funny and student-y, like dying of starvation, being in debt (lots and lots of debt. Hurrah for debt.) exams, drinking, not going to lectures, that hot guy or girl in your tutorial, whatever. Anything. Help me out here!!

I looove those sorts of storms. Especially when they occur while I'm awake. If such a storm wakes me up then I tend to feel extremely relaxed and happy after finding out why my sleep was disturbed.

Yeah, me too. :) I like windstorms as well, because I was brought up in Wellington and it's really soothing. :)

Fuck, it's hailing AGAIN. This is FANTASTIC. :D
