As you may or may not be aware, I've been kind of sick (though not as sick as poor old [livejournal.com profile] sixth_light and busy. :-/ However, this hasn't stopped me from making a bunch of icons- including the ones I owe you, Erin! They're going up next post- and planning to go see umpteen zillion Festival Films. :) Anyone up to come with me?

In order they appear in the Festival guide:
(I wanted to see Kung Fu Hustle because I have a vague idea Tze Ming Mok recommended it but sadly I have other plans for tonight and it's only showing once. :-/ oh well, it's life.)

Howl's Moving Castle Miyazaki Hayao, Japan *** MUST SEE THIS OH EM GEE.***
Because, you know, Miyazaki+ Diana Wynne Jones can only = good things, right? Also if you don't get this you are dead to me.
Sat 6th, Sun 7th, Tue 9th.

Machucha Andres Wood, Chile. *shrug* I only read about this one.
I've never seen a film about chile. :P Apparently story of friendship of two boys from opposite sides of track. Coolies.
Tue 9th, Thu 11th, Sun 14th.

Comme une Image (Look At Me) Agnes Jaoui, France/Italy
I need to see a French film- preferably more than one- for numerous reasons. this one's about a girl who like singing and her famous dad and corresponding, um, artistic difficulties. It looks fun. And good reviews.

Turtles Can Fly Bahman Ghobadi, Iraq/Iran ** looks really good
About children in a refugee camp (I know, my summaries are teh suck. The NZFilm Festival website will have better ones, don't rag on me...) I would really like to see this, maybe because the title reminds me of Pterry or maybe because the picture that went with the blurb was cool. Anyway.
Fri 29/Sat 30 July

Night Watch (nochnoy dozor) Timur Bekmambetov, Russia **heh
Um. It's about vampires. Russian vampires. Vampires? Film Festival? VAMPIRES? Yeah, so totally must go.
Sun 7 Aug, Wed 10 Aug

Mysterious Skin Gregg Araki, USA
A "bracing film about getting over child abuse." It got a rec on [livejournal.com profile] readingxrainbow but I might have difficulty finding someone to go with me so. It does have a good picture with its blurb. :P
Fri 5, Mon 8 august

Palindromes Todd Solondz, USA
It's about abortion, in a really crack-tastic way. Don't look at me like that, that's basically what the blurb says.
Wed 3, Fri 5, Sun 7

The Edukators, Hans Weingartner, Germany *
it's about a coupld of guys who break into rich peoples' houses, rearrange their furniture artistically and leave them notes saying "You have too much money." What's not to love?
Tue 2, Thu 4, sat 6 August

Banana in a Nutshell Roseanne Liang, NZL **
Doco about Ms Liang's relationship with her parents and fiance. Tze Ming Mok managed to review it without actually saying whether she liked it or not, which intrigues me; anyway, I want to see it. Also, it's the only Kiwi film on my list, wtf?
Sat 13, sun 14 august

10e Chambre: instants d'audiences (the 10th District Court: Moments of Trial) Raymond Depardon, France
Looks kind of like Judge Judy but better and French. :P
Wed 10, Thu 11th

So that's... ten films in two weeks. Um. I may have to cut down a little, I don't think my finances can stand it. But, anyway, if you wanna come with, Lucy et al, say so, kk. Also there are like half a dozen other things I would like to see too. *facepalm* NEVER MIND, TUI.

I had something else to say but I forget. Oh yeah, check out all my new icons. ^^
