Americans do tend to be pretty jumpy. I like the bit in "Bowling for Coulmbine" where the animated bullet talkes you through American history. Rather a different perspective than the one taught in AP US History. Although apparantly you're supposed to tell the cops what you're doing every time you make a move. Like when my mom got pulled over for speeding she was like, "I'll get my resitration. It's in the glove compartment." and "My lisence is in my purse which is on the backseat. I'll get it for you now." She said that's how you're supposed to address cops because if you don't tell them what you're doing, they'll thinkg you're going for a gun or something.
I believe the first one- I see viewpoints like that in some of my classmates at school. (Like Ellie, for example, who's obsessed with LOTR but won't read HP because it's got wizardry in it. She also refused to admit that a deck of Tarot cards existed.) Thankfully, the teachers aren't like that.
