what it's like

I thought the other day I'd call you.
and then of course I didn't,

I don't know why my subconscious mind
doesn't know what's good for me,

like hearing your voice on the other end
of the line, after months

and time away. Well I guess it's
not all wrong, I'm not sure

if I'd have anything to say; we might
stay on the line and listen to each other

breathe. I can't help thinking that
silence maybe just what I need,

strained through filaments like
I think we are sometimes, when

we sleep at the same time but never
realise it, except if I might see you in my dream--

I thought this morning that I'd call you tonight
hope you'll still be awake when the phone rings.

In other news, more icons, only 7 this time, these ones made specially for [livejournal.com profile] megaffe, sweetie I hope you like them, text by James K Baxter, bases again from the superlative [livejournal.com profile] posticonic. Please credit [livejournal.com profile] posticonic! Other credit is nice but not necessary. (Also, Meggie, if you have alternate ideas welcome to request something of COURSE).

They're fantastic! I particularly love 1, 3 & 6. How do you do it!

um... now you'll have to teach me how to get them, let alone credit them (this is technologically inept me, afer all)

The poem is wonderful. Why does your poetry always make me cry?

*beam* I knew you'd like #1. And the secret is? I honestly don't do it myself. :p [livejournal.com profile] deutscheami makes with the pretty, JKB makes beyootiful words, I just put them together. All I pikc is the font. :P

Heheh, okay. To upload icons: rightclick on the icon and "save image as" onto your computer. Then go to manage->userpics on LJ- you know how you go journal->update to update your journal, well go manage ->userpics in the same way. or just go here (http://www.livejournal.com/editpics.bml), because I'm awesome. It'll have instructions there. Don't forget to give it keywords! To credit, either in the "comments" or "keywords" space type "by [livejournal.com profile] posticonic" (or whoever else made them.)

Alternatively, I could just do them for you. Having your password and everything. ;) Which ones would you like? ;)

Your poems are great... so much less wanky and memememe than mine are!

*g* That is the highest praise, because I seriously hate hate hate wank in poetry BUT your poetry NOT wanky. I absolutely ADORE "The Post-Colonialists." I get "next year, next year/the back of the wardrobe will disappear" in my head on a regular basis.

:O

I've hardly written anything in ages and it's all been wank... guess I'm losing my touch...

You know I had a phone conversation the other day that was eerily like your poem...

It's beautiful, I love it. I also love the icons AND that poem too :D

Glad it's universal! One of the worst things about personal poetry is I'm never sure how much it's comprehensible to people who aren't me or my really close family so. :)

:Thank you! And I like Baxter too. :)

I am going to take the poem on a trip around cyberspace (and real life) and pimp it.

Because it is, awesome.
