... you know what would be awesome, would be if when people accidentally fell out of a particular fannish space, by accident or design, if there was a way to just magically FIND THEM again. Like you know... leaving a breadcrumb trail in your journal or profile or HELLO PEOPLE DON'T SLOWLY DITCH US SO WE CAN NEVER FIND YOU AGAIN, I find it distressing (distressing enough that I just searched all my inbox for key words about a particular person who I was thinking about today for the first timme in yonks, which is unfortunate because I used to know their non-LJ/DW/w/e blog and now... I do not. If you are reading this and think I might be missing YOU, email me! labellementeuse(at)gmail(dot)com! Your doings are interesting.)

In a way (but not really), this almost makes me prefer wholescale flouncing, because at least then I can shrug my shoulders and give up.

I will be awful here and admit that I think of you by your username because I can hardly ever remember what your actual name is. That makes me feel awful, because I really like you and I would miss you if you disappeared.

When is your birthday, btw? I'm making a personal calendar of them, and I know how old you are, but not when your birthday is...

<3 Oh honey, that's OK, the only reason people know my actual name is because labellementeuse is kind of long to write, difficult to spell, and quite hard to pronounce for people who don't know French. :P But if I stick around the YW forums this time, a bunch of people there still call me by it regularly, so who knows, you may pick it up.

22 July!

That reminds me, I found someone yesterday who'd done a flounce and left a post announcing they'd taken all their fic down because no-one read it and the world didn't need more second-rate fic and waaaaangstmobile. The annoying thing was that I found them off a rec list, so clearly SOME people read their fic, and considering it's the most-linked rec list I've found for that pairing/fandom, probably quite a few...making it all the more gah.

Flouncing? Fine. Taking all your fic down even though it's recced? MORTAL FRICKING SIN.

it is sort of an intrinsic part of the classic flounce, though (also, I think a lot of people just don't keep paying for their website/delete their journal, which is you know... ok angrymaking but fine. what really makes me nuts is when people retroactively flock their fic and they are STILL POSTING under lock and ARGH MOTHERFUCK.)

Those people go to the circle of hell with the child molesters and the people who talk in the theatre.

Speaking of that particular circle, I must share with you this Mintie moment: getting to the tenth chapter of a post-war non-DH compliant Harry/Draco Harry-is-a-pro-baker Draco-is-a-divorce fic and there's a scene where Harry and Draco have sex for the first time and the next morning Draco's children (who have known Harry MAYBE a month) call Harry 'cake-daddy' and now I will never know what happens in the last two chapters because I closed the tab out of life-saving reflex.

I find I grow pickier as I get older; there's some stuff which is just an automatic stop-reading, even if the rest of it is okay. And hearing things like this, I am not sorry for it.

yes but ten chapters. I feel bad because there were one or two warning signs but they were MILD, mild signs, but now. No. ugh.

I always wondered what I should do if I decide to delete my LJ or something (because while I occasionally do go on fic-writing sprees once in a blue moon, I don't really update it or anything and when I do I usually feel like it's an obligation rather than something I REALLY want to do), if I should bother leaving an email address or something or just do the round deletion thing without comment . . .

I don't really know so in the end I do nothing :) but I feel like in the end that can't be a lasting state. Heh.

I totally understand how it happens, is the thing, like when you just lose touch with a website or a community... I get that. But it makes me crazy all the same.
