So Joss Whedon's the new Runaways writer.
When BKV announced he was leaving, someone mentioned a couple of possible takeover writers and Joss was one of them, and I remember skimming past that and thinking, I'm sure Joss loves Runaways, but I'm not sure that would be a great idea.
Don't get me wrong, I adore Joss' work. I love Buffy and Angel and Firefly/Serenity, including the comics, and I loved Fray (although that's the extent of my familiarity with his comics stuff). But... I'm not sure that I trust him? I mean, what do I know, I still haven't read probably the last six issues of Runaways, apart from the OMG SPOILERS, so. And yet, I dunno. I mean, obviously I'll be giving him the benefit of the doubt, but... someone over on S_D said that he tends to turn all his girls into Buffy and frankly the only things that are still at all appealing about Niko are the ways in which she's not like Buffy. There's also Molly, of course, but no-one can screw with Molly. There's been a lot of discussion about how Joss is really great with characters who are tagged as girls, but not with women, and and and. Bah, I don't want to be like this, I love Runaways and I love Joss but I'm nervous! *whiny*
On the other hand, Joss *is* at the very least a more than competent writer, and it's nice Runaways is getting him. :)
