It's because Investigate really believes being gay is terribly scandalous and wrong, but doesn't feel able to say it because it's so out of step with public opinion, so they go on at length about public figures on the Left being secretly gay and if questioned claim that their outrage is aimed at the secrecy, not the gayness.
