labellementeuse: a girl sits at a desk in front of a window, chewing a pencil (girl reading)
I have been moved! ... to post about television. whoa, big change there.

I've been finding myself getting behind on BSG and SPN. SPN, not too surprised about, because I pretty much fell out of love with it from the start of the season. Maybe it was time, maybe it was the new and unpleasant characterisation of Dean... well, whatever. I may catch up with it sometime when I'm bored. However, I'm hugely surprised that I'm getting behind on BSG! It's not that I don't want to watch the show - I do. It's that the last five minutes of that episode two weeks ago where that horrible and unfortunate thing happened made me so miserable I'm not sure I want to go on, which is kind of strange because cut for BSG spoilers )

So it's kind of sad but true that out of my top three shows on US television at the moment, two are actually crime shows and only one's SF&F (BSG, which is still amazing. The other two are Bones and Life, shows which are consistently excellent in terms of character continuity, thoughtful casting and scripting, and good acting.) SGA's fun and all, but doesn't meet any of my criteria for a show which I can love by itself - in a vacuum, I don't know if I would like SGA that much. In the context of being in a fandom, OTOH, I couldn't go past SGA (or SPN, truly) and I'm not trying to say that I think SGA is worthless because I would be very very very very sad if it went away (sadder than if Life went away, actually.) This paragraph brought to you by the way I'm falling out of love with a bunch of shows at the moment and my annoyance with my lack of fantasy TV. Also, the fact that I really disapprove of the crime show genre and it annoys me a lot that I dig them so much (and House, too, which is just another kind of crime show and which continues to get me excited to download it. Actually, this week's episode was great, HI CAMERON I DO ADORE YOU.)

Anyway, blah blah blah: this week's episode of Bones was truly truly incredible and I don't really have anything to say to it, for it, about it - but wow, I nearly cried, beautifully played. I look back on David Boreanaz in Buffy S1 and I'm amazed! :PP anyway, imma go re-watch that courtroom scene a couple of times, but first!
