Jan. 3rd, 2007 12:38 pmSo I decided I wanted to enrol today, mostly on the grounds that if I don't make myself do it today, right now, before another day passes, it'll never never happen and I'll have to spend fifteen hours a day at uni waiting in queues again, and that does not do it for me. So. I came home from work and sat down and enlisted my mother and wrote a lot all over a thousand sheets of paper, and I came to this conclusion: I love english and I'm good at it, but every single English class that I actually want to take this year clashes with something else I want to take. if I have a year off doing English, I know for a fact I'm not going to find it difficult to go back to; english also has a lot of good summer papers that I wouldn't mind doing. On the other hand, if I go back to maths after a year, I am going to find it really hard, and maths summer papers suck.
So this is what I'm doing: I'm not dropping my maths major just yet. I might decide to at the end of the year, but if I do I'll be confident that it wasn't because I was lazy and it wasn't because I was sick. Instead, what I'm doing is this:
Semester 1 2007
ENGL231: Poetry Writing
MATH251: Linear Systems
MATH261: Multivariate Calculus
PHIL321: Ethics (if I get accepted, if not, Philosophy of Science)
Semester 2 2007
PHIL305: Philosophical Logic
PHIL240: Biomedical Ethics
MATH252: Matrix Algebra
Summer 07/08
ENGL320: Literary theory
+ possibly another english summer paper
Semester 1 2008
ENGL313: Cultures of the Supernatural (unless they don't offer it in which case I will KILL THINGS.)
+possibly some other english paper
+PHIL323: Philosophy of Science
AND THEN go up to Vic, finish off Maths having done quite a bit of it and look at postgrad in... whatever I feel like, really.
I completed my application to enrol, my courses don't clash and my workload - 133 points - is probably the lowest I've ever had and even got green lighted by the website. It's all through and shiny.
Okay, world, hit me with it, I'm ready.

Date: 2007-01-04 04:02 am (UTC)I don't think I'll ever get over calling a class a "paper." Especially for mathematics classes. And I really don't like the look of "enrol" compared to "enroll."
Philosophy of Science is a class I have my eye on as well.

Date: 2007-01-21 04:15 am (UTC)I'm at Auck Uni doing Ethics of Biotechnology in summer school at the moment. Sort of similar to your Phil204 we cover biomedical ethics quite a bit.
Have to admit, a bit of a snore fest because of the lec but very interesting otherwise.

Date: 2007-01-21 04:42 am (UTC)It pretty easy here - not sure how it will be there but i got my first essay back and scored an A without too much effort haha. Maths plus arts sounds like a real interesting combination - you got the best of both sides of the brain haha.
