During a pathetically pathetic phonecall to my mother in which I cried about how I'm going to fail out of university and I'm so fucking broke (because of saving for a new laptop, so not like, a pauper, but in the sense that I can just about afford to pay rent this week) and my job sucks we talked about television.

MUM: You need to have your mum make you hot chocolate with little marshmallows and hot water bottles and lie down on the couch with blankets and watch television! (Ed: ok. this makes me sound about five. But shut up, ok.)
ME: I'm watching this show called Foyle's War -
MUM: I watch Heroes whenever I can!
ME: What?
MUM: Heroes! I love it! I think it's really good!
ME: role reversal, much?

I could just darling her into my heart. ♥

Aw, bub! Sorry to hear you're having such a crappy time of it. :( Your phone call to your mum sounds very familiar indeed. I once rang my Mum in floods of tears from CHCH in third year, cos I couldn't fit my electric blanket on my bed, and I was at the end of my rope completely!

Your mum sounds so cute! Hope she can make you that milo with marshmallows soon. :) And hope things calm down a little.

I DID. They rang me today and were like, we got ROBBED so we're buying EIGHT ZILLION COMPUTERS we can probably get a bit off your one. And then I was like, that's so sweet, but I HATE MACS. HATE. And frankly, the amount they would have been able to take off would have left it at about the top end of what I can afford anyway, so.

And we could bring Psych, which I can't remember if you've seen but is truly brilliant - it's about this guy who has amazing powers of observation and keeps phoning in tips to the police, so they're going to arrest him, so he pretends to be a psychic to explain why he knows so much, and it's just really, really funny. I'll have to check in with her about it, but anyway.
