Nov. 7th, 2007 06:58 amI have two music uploads for y'all today! Because I'm lazy, I'm only going to provide .rar files, but if any of you want the specific songs, feel free to request them. Files are mp3 unless otherwise noted. also, no covers because I haven't got photoshop right now. IMAGINE the covers, OK?
First up, a mixtape that's been sort of percolating in my head since my ipod played "Cactus Tree," "When I Was A Boy", and "I'm Glad I Hitched My Applewagon To Your Star" all in a row. It's 9 songs that are, well, fantastic, in the literal sense.

Christmas Songs
I was originally going to upload a couple of these for
deutscheami because she was awesome and gave me some Sufjan Stevens. That was... a week or two ago, um, sorry, Heidi! I plead being eaten by exams. This is pretty much all the Christmas music I have on my computer, and it's a bit of a grab-bag. Some of them are quirky covers (Simon & Garfunkel, Belle & Sebastian, Barenaked Ladies), some of them are funny (The Go Gos, Snoopy's Christmas), some of them are straight-up versions of the traditionals (Emmanuel, Drummer Boy) and some of them are, hm... nouveau christmas? Anyway. You may enjoy them. I know it's a little early for Christmas music, but deal with it.

1. Josh Ritter - Come And Find Me
i keep you in a flower vase
with your fatalism and crooked face
with the daisies and the violet brocades
and I keep me in a vacant lot
in the ivies, forget-me-nots
hoping you will come and untangle me one of these days
2. Dar Williams - When I Was a Boy
I learned to fly, I learned to fight
I lived a whole life in one night
We saved each others' lives out on the pirate deck.
And I remember that night when
leaving a late night with some friends
And I hear somebody tell me
It's not safe, someone should help me,
Need to find a nice man to walk me home.
3. Simon & Garfunkel - For Emily, Wherever I May Find Her
I wandered empty streets down past the shop displays
I heard cathedral bells dripping down the alleyways
As I walked on...
And when you ran to me, your cheeks flushed with the night
We walked on frosted fields of juniper and lamplight.
4. Joni Mitchell - Cactus Tree
He has missed her in the forest
While he showed her all the flowers,
And the branches sang the chorus
As he climbed the scaley towers
Of a forest tree,
While she was somewhere being free
5. Barenaked Ladies - When You Dream
When you dream,
What do you dream about?
Do you dream about
Music or mathematics
Or planets too far for the eye?
Do you dream about
Jesus or quantum mechanics
Or angels who sing lullabies?
6. The Boy Least Likely to - I'm Glad I Hitched My Apple Wagon To Your Star
I was young and I was stupid, I had just turned seventeen,
I took my hits on a dumb roadtrip to nashville tennessee,
I packed my antihistamines in tupperware drums,
a harmonica and a box guitar,
in a canvas covered wagon stuffed with apples and with guns.
7. Bic Runga - The Gift That Keeps On Giving
The beams are made of cedarwood, the rafters made of fir
The garden holds a fountain, honeycomb and myrrh.
I walked along the broadways looking for my love,
I asked among the watchmen, have you seen my love?
Promise not to wake him, sisters, let him sleep his time,
He comforts me with apples, suckers me with wine.
8. Strawpeople - Dreamchild [.WMA, sorry]
Back in '77, when everything was so tall,
I used to watch a TV show that I never can recall.
This is the feeling I taste in my dreams,
when the child was a child was a child.
9. Vera Lynn - A Nightingale Sang in Berkeley Square
When two lovers meet in Mayfair, so the legends tell
Songbirds sing, winter turns to spring.
Every winding street in Mayfar falls beneath the spell.
I know such enchantment can be,
Because it happened one evening to me.
