... but gosh, isn't netball heaps of fun to watch? I might even watch Australia vs. England tomorrow. Had a bit of a family night in, which was sort of hilarious, with Dad making totally typical snarky remarks and mum complaining about professional netball, etc. But yeah, it was a good game (it's always good when we stomp all over the opposing team. Sorry, S.A.)

Is netball what we silly Americans call Volleyball? Or...? I dunno.

*giggle, giggle* Um, no, not at all. (We call volleyball, volleyball. :P) Netball is a lot more like basketball, except it's a) played by women and b) you can't run with the ball or dribble. (Can you run with the ball in basketball? Er.) Uh, there are a couple of other differences but I don't know much about basketball so I couldn't tell you, but it's a great game and most NZ girls will play it at school (either in school teams or, you know, PE.)

Curling! I've heard about curling! with brooms, right?

I must protest this - New Zealand boasts both a very fine women's basketball team and several men's netball teams.* You're encouraging the gender segregation of sports!

Actually, I believe women's basketball is quite common (like, more than men's netball) overseas. I was speaking generally.

Um. lots of beautiful passing? this (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3ffNpOWge1k) is not an ideal clip, because it's two extremely well-matched teams basically fighting goals out of each other into extra time, so it's not typical, but it might give you a sense.

Haha, I didn't see this til now. Not spongey at all. A bit like a cross between a basketball and a rugby ball in texture, I guess, and shapewise like a basketball or a soccer ball.
