Aaaaand last spam of the night. Rec me gay-themed romantic comedy! I like Breakfast with Scot, Love & Other Catastrophes, Waitress, Four Weddings & a Funeral, Imagine Me & You, Boy Meets Boy, Geography Club, etc, etc. I hate Kissing Jessica Stein and I'm sick of Katherine Heigl-style romcoms (and I really love Heigl! I just which she'd act in something I could get behind.) Also, I freaking hate films about one experienced person seducing another inexperienced person into hedonistic lesbianism!!1! Or hedonistic heterosexuality!!1! Or hedonistic sexuality!!1! So boring, such a turn off.

Blah blah I was going to do introspective navel-gazing about why I like the films I like, but you don't care and nor do I. Rec me anyway, darling flist?

((I know this has nothing to do with gay-themed romantic comedy))

I really liked Katherine Heigl in "Love Comes Softly". It's actually a series of movies (based on books by...um...Janette Oke). I usually don't watch that kind of movie, but I was wrangled into it by mom and it turned out to be pretty good. I can't remember if Heigl shows up in any of the sequels, though.

Here's the wiki on the movie(s):

Love and other catastrophes is about as light as you get and centres around one het couple and one lesbian couple (with nary a suggestion of the lesbians getting seduced by anyone other than another lesbian).

It's fluffy and silly and I quite like it.

Love & other Catastrophes is one of my top favourite movies, ever, and I actually own it (which is why it was in my list, but hey :P) You have great taste!

I would have actually been interested in the naval gazing...

I have no romantic comedies of any sort to rec at the mo anyway, I don't tend to watch them without some ulterior motive so its been awhile.

Bedrooms and Hallways
Mambo Italiano
Better than Chocolate
Guru (very sort-of, but it has dancing!)

Although I will be entirely unsurprised if you've seen all these already, given your formidable filmic education ;~)

It's entirely heteronormative, but since you seem to be a fan of non-coms, I am motivated by scientific curiosity to ask - Love Actually - yay or nay?

have you ever seen But I'm A Cheerleader?, i don't know if it falls too close to inexperienced-being-seduced, but it's hilariously funny and has Melanie Lynskey in it. and Clea Duvall! i love me some Clea.

Another one I luuuuuurve. Because Clea absolutely does it for me, if you know what I mean and I think you do... speaking of, I think we skipped her episode in Buffy! & now I feel the urge to download it somewhere even though she's, uh, invisible for most of it...
