I'm trying to give more to charities this year and the easiest way I could think to do it was to give a small sum (as well as a physical present, because um, my sister wouldn't understand ;)) to everyone who has a birthday. Anyway, my sister's birthday is on Monday and I was thinking of giving to the New Zealand Dyslexia foundation, because she's mildly dyslexic and I like to make it relevant to people's interests. So, basically: anyone know anything about the NZDF? I'd like to avoid them if they're widely known to be crooks or something. Alternatively, if anyone has any experiences with them, I'd love to hear about those too so I can write to her and tell her a bit about them.

X-posted a few places.

I know an important thing to look at is how much of a donation goes towards administration costs. There are a few websites with this kind of information -- but I've never used them. Google brings up "Charity Navigator" http://www.charitynavigator.org/ but it's probably US-oriented.

Great idea!! Good luck finding info you need.
