Mind you, they don't have a server in Christchurch, only Wellington. Not sure what that means for the results. Anyway, I'm fairly pleased with those results, go Xnet! We've only been with World Xchange for two months and I've generally been really happy - no unscheduled downtime, etc - the only issue really is that occasionally it slows down in the evenings. I'll probably do a few tests in the evening to see by how much, because you know, curious.
Actually, the best thing about the site is going to the bit where you can compare your results with other ISPs. Apparently, the fastest ISP in NZ is something called AUCKLA. Who are getting speeds of 18538 kb/s. I didn't even know these kinds of speeds were available in NZ. I also don't think that ISP exists, so that's both weird and hilarious. Second fastest? Something terrifying called SafeNZ, which on the plus side does exist, but on the downside, its raison d'etre is that it offers pre-filtering of your content. UM: SCARY. Also, it doesn't offer ADSL, so I'm not sure how it's so fast. Third-fastest is just called ISP. and here's a fun fact: fourth-fastest is the rural wireless broadband provider, "Canning & Associates." Someone should tell them that's a really dumb name for an ISP.
The rest, apart from one which seems to actually be a Thai ISP (???), Orcon (about which I have heard bad things), and Xnet, are tiny, expensive ISPs where you pay something like $100 for 20g. Interestingly, neither Telecom nor Ihug (NZ's big girl ISPs) are in the top list. My ISP's right at the bottom of the toplist, which pleases me.
