Thanks for the tips! (Also, you are totally the ideal person to do this for me, since I think we basically agree on the show's, you know... Issues. Its Women Issues and Race Issues and Dean Issues.) I'm really hoping to coast through the end of season 3 holding my nose, and have season 4 revitalise me - although your comments about 4x01? :-///////.
I really don't want to give up on SPN, because I used to love it so much, and I still love the idea of it, and Sam and Dean and Jensen and Jared, but I just don't like the demon war thing at all, and like all genre shows, it is heading more for the serial and less for the MotW format.
I completely agree. And I also feel that Kripke doesn't really seem to be cut out to do those big serial arcs effectively - which, frankly, I think very few writers/creators are. I'm neutral on the demon war thing - I didn't like what I saw of it in s3, but I think this is complicated by things like the way many of the demons were played by women, and poorly treated, etc. (I also think that a demons vs hunters war is a really cool idea - if you have a whole gang of hunters who communicate with each other on a semi-regular basis and co-ordinate even a little bit. And SPN is just so FAR from that it's frustrating.)
I guess I quit on the show for awhile because of the degree to which me being pissed off outweighed me being squeeful on every episode, so I don't really know if anything will have changed - maybe I'm emotionally detached enough to get over it, or something.
