A problem while translating the Treaty of Waitangi

A pakeha version:                      A maori version:

THE FIRST ARTICLE             THE FIRST ARTICLE
I am the boss.                            You are the boss.

THE SECOND ARTICLE        THE SECOND ARTICLE
You are the boss.                       I am the boss.

THE THIRD ARTICLE            THE THIRD ARTICLE
Now that's sorted out                How about those muskets?
put some clothes on,
          pay your rates,
                 get a job
and find a lawyer.

-- Glenn Colquhoun.

This is instead of me being thoughtful about Waitangi Day, which is the day it is today. I'm not being thoughtful because - you know the Wellingtonista venn diagram that's been going around? Stoners, munters, One Love, the Sevens, Newtown and te Aro? Well, I just worked the night shift at a Newtown bottlestore, so I deserve not to be thoughtful today.

Ka kite ano.

Someone needs to translate the Wellington graph into Aucklandish for me because the only thing I got was Te Aro.

Oh, it's just three big fests/parties (the Sevens: a sort-of rugby thing that's more about dressing up in really ridic costumes and getting wasted, One Love: big sort-of Waitangi inspired outdoor all-day concert with roots, rock, and reggae, but mostly reggae, and also about getting stoned and/or wasted, and Camp A Low Hum, which is an indie/alt festival, takes place in wainuiomata, and therefore is about 7,000x less likely to create a pain in my neck and I don't hate it). Then the suburbs - Te Aro, Newtown, and the Hutt - are a way of making a joke about the kinds of people who live there/go to those festivals/the distribution of munters, stoners, and hipsters who live there.

Ahahaha

Eeesh. I wouldn't want to work the late shift at a bottleshop during sevens. Any exciting madness going around this year?

Actually, it was basically fine, but I'm still kind of ugh from it all, you know? 5-11 is a bad enough shift without half the customers being shitfaced.

Truth. I think the worst shift to have would be that shift at starmart or BK on Courtenay place eh.

I suddenly feel the need for a Treaty of Waitangi "Translation: Ur Doin It Wrong" macro.
