I flat out REFUSE to pay $30 for Kim, a book so far out of copyright it has cobwebs, especially when I am ABSOLUTELY POSITIVE my family has a copy.

*rips every book off every bookshelf in the house*

PS: confidential to [livejournal.com profile] sixth_light, is this copy of Julie by Jean Craighead George yours?

What by who?

(and: Gutenberg Project!)

(and: have you seen Watchmen? I think Mike may lock me out of the house or something if I talk about it any more to him.)

It's the sequel to Julie of the Wolves, by the woman who wrote all that random environmental fiction like My Side of the Mountain (only one of my fave books EVER).

I like to be able to underline shit in books I'm studying & gutenberg doesn't cut it. Also, I need to be able to carry it around because I can only make myself read Kipling by forcing it, i.e. bus ride or doctor's waiting room when I HAVE to read it or stare at the wall.

I haven't seen it yet...

Hey, I think I remember reading Julie of the Wolves! A long time ago. At least, it sounds familiar. It's *vaguely possible* it's a book I once owned, but if so a) I don't care, keep it and b) I must have lent it to you about ten years ago.

Go and see it, like, yesterday. The opening credits are a *work of sheer genius*. I tracked down a torrent just so I could watch them over and over. I borrowed the comic off Liz. I am in love. Now if only fandom would stop being obsessed with ships I don't understand. *glowers at fandom*.

And how do you not enjoy reading Kipling? *hearts* He is wonderful. But I can see your underlining problem.

Whitcoulls has it for $15 - http://books.whitcoulls.co.nz/kim/ISBN9780140183528 . Plus, there should be cheaper copies in those ... I don't know how to describe them, but those copies of lots of classics that they have billions of different titles in, and there're normally about $10, and they have black or navy backs, and old paintings on the front... those ones! lol

But that doesn't help with the I-know-it's-around-here-somewhere-where-is-it problem. :)

I know the ones, yeah. I'm poking around. Really it's just that I'm angry at the INJUSTICE OF THE WORLD in re: not being able to find it despite going through all the bookcases which, since we don't really have enough bookcases, most of them are double-shelved and it suhuuuuucks.

Hi, you! <3 I miss you guys. How's choir going? You should email me!

Okay! Will do. I forgot you weren't there for the introductions.
