1. So I haven't heard about the blasted coffee job that's been taking up all my time, which means I probably didn't get it, which is sort of thrilling.

2. Because there's nothing like imminent homelessness and/or moving back in with the APs to really get the adrenaline pumping.

3. To take my mind off things I'm re-reading Deathly Hallows. What chapter (ish) does the movie stop (ish) at? Feel free to give me a nice wide range so's not to be spoilered.

4. And who would like to come see it with me tomorrow? 10 or 11 am at Reading. I feel like I may as well take advantage of being unemployed to see a movie in a nearly empty theatre so I can gasp and generally act the fangirl. Plus IIRC Tuesday is Cheapskate Day.

5. Sort of excited that I actually have HP icons this time around!

6. I find watching the stats for the blog absolutely fascinating (in the worst way). It's easy to see where some people are coming from, too: username.livejournal.com/friends is a bit of a giveaway.

7. I got my Yuletide assignment! It's a real challenge, but exciting, I'm looking forward to getting stuck in.

Um, to be honest you might well find it boring as FUCK and it's probably not, like, your true-life dream, but there is a job going in my team at the moment - it has JUST been advertised.

Also, Yuletide! \o/

I think it's on the govt jobs website? I will check with my boss tomorrow about where it's been advertised.

Are you specificially looking for something short-term-ish?

Haaa, my office is technically one of the largest publishers in the country--but my job is mostly formatting and herding lawyers, and I totally get what you mean!

Have you considered seeing if you can get temping work? Which: boring, and hours are variable, and not stable in the slightest - but possibly an option if you've got decent computer/data entry skills and want to be able to drop it to pick up a dream job sometime in the future.

I'm pretty sure I know who you're talking about and I'm pretty sure he never makes ANYTHING sounds interesting.

I've never temped, actually; I just know a few people who have - so I can't really offer any specific advice except know your typing and data entry speeds and advertise them.

You could maybe also try the word processing teams in law firms? I know all the big firms have them, it's fairly decent money, and at least what you're typing is vaguely interesting.

I had good experiences with Madison in Auckland - they operate in Wellington but I didn't use them here. Everyone I know who's worked for GBL seems to have had good experiences with them. I used Hudson in Wellington who I had a good experience with but they are superformal (and were used to recruit scab labour when the airnz cabin crew were on strike, which may or may not affect your decision...)

A fixed-term position in our editorial team has just opened up - fixed until December next year. It's advertised on my office's website; I can email you a direct link if you're interested. (The permanent job in my team is also advertised on the website).
