I'm excited to have you write for me! The number one thing you need to know is that I’ve participated in a lot of exchanges and I’ve read a lot of fanfic and I’m pretty relaxed about what you give me because I care a lot about you having fun, so feel free to go off the rails a bit, do something creative, do something sadder or more difficult or more kinky or less tropey and ridiculous or MORE tropey and ridiculous or something you wouldn’t normally do in an exchange - do what your heart tells you. (But if your heart tells you to follow my prompts, don’t worry, I like that, too.) More stuff under the cuts! (Also, I want to add that I'm currently in CM RPF and the length of my requests just reflects my familiarity with that fandom, NOT the degree to which I'm excited about it - I would be just as thrilled with receiving stories for either of my other requests.)
GENERAL LIKES
- I like stories that make me Feel Things, and I’m OK if sometimes those feelings are complicated and not all the way happy. (Although I also like the stuff that’s unabashedly all the way happy.) I like tropes played straight and tropes that are inverted, questioned, played around with unexpectedly. I like fanfic that explores what happens when people fail or make mistakes, and whether, and how, they can resolve them.
- breakup-makeup/getting back together stories are favourites of mine. I never get tired of reading those plots. I love the agony of the break-up and then the cautious learning to trust again. I love people holding themselves apart because they’re in pain. And I love the sense of recreated love, new, more honest, better relationships that have genuinely resolved what was wrong with the first relationship, whatever that was - secrecy, dishonesty, lack of self-acceptance, lack of communication, differing expectations, whatever - relationships that are stronger because they resolved those problems.
- I love the classic slash tropes, especially fake dating, wake up married, kidfic, emotional misunderstandings, pining. Wacky dilemma tropes like bodyswap, sudden mind reading, cursed to tell the truth, etc are also really fun for me. I’m especially fond of established relationship, navigating relationship problems inside a steady relationship. I also like the classic first-time sex experiences that are treated as casual but gradually become serious and feelingsy, as well as inarticulate-about-feelings people accidentally bumbling towards a relationship dynamic they don't fully understand.
- I like a range of different tones, many different styles of AU, etc. I like reading stuff close to the tone of whichever canon and I like reading stuff that takes those characters and puts them in stories of different tones - darker, lighter, different contexts, pornier, etc
- I love canon-divergence AUs where one thing happened differently and then …
- I’m happy to receive porn. My significant porn squicks are bloodplay, scat, and daddy kink. Dubcon is not a squick. You can feel free to be adventurous here if you wish.
GENERAL DISLIKES
Please don't focus on or ideally refer to parental death. Other than that there’s not much I truly DNW other than sickfic, deathfic, and rape recovery as a plotpoint. Sometimes I struggle with truly, unambiguously unhappy endings, but I don’t think characters breaking up is necessarily an unhappy ending - that can be happy or hopeful. Endings that are a bit unresolved, that leave questions, can be tantalising.
CROOKED MEDIA RPF

I like the OT3 because I like threesomes that turn longterm, I like the three separate dynamics that underpin this relationship, I like the potential for all three to be profoundly uncertain about their place in a sexual relationship, but equally I like the trust that I think exists between them, and, really, The Dynamic. The Dynamic is great. I don't mind if any of the three are a duo before the OT3 gets together, and don't care if it starts as V poly, but I generally prefer equilateral triangle poly (everyone has a relationship with everyone else).
I like tommyjon because I like size difference, people with differing levels of self-hatred, self-effacing people pining for people who conceal self-consciousness with Loud and Dramatic Unselfconsciousness, self-effacing people who might actually be kind of an asshole, nerds interacting with non-nerds, and relationships between people who don't instinctively understand each other and have to work to achieve that understanding. I like that they're cerebral in completely different ways, and physical in completely different ways.
What I like about jonjon is the sense of two people who aren't necessarily very like each other both but who do instinctively understand each other, the passionate fondness and friendship there and how easily I can imagine that deepening to romance. I have a dumb affection for gay/coming-out angst with this pairing, but I'm a bit embarrassed about it, so only do it if you're into it! I like that they're two people who are really trying to do the right thing. I am interested in what I think are uncompatible neuroses! And in the idea that Favreau is actually a bit more of a cynic and a skeptic than Lovett, but Lovett performs the cynicism more.
Also I love the commune because of EVERYTHING. Unlike my usual poly desires, with commune I'm happy if the existing pairings remain primary relationships.
A couple extra prompts for this fandom: For this fandom I’m actually unusually into post-apocalypse, especially a Station Eleven-style postapocalypse where the focus of the story is not the immediate violence or even the semi-immediate reconstruction but the hopeful/difficult quotidian life of someone living post-apocalypse, what that looks like for these people. how do they live without twitter, etc, but also the less tongue-in-cheek version of that. for commune, how do all the parts of the commune find each other? do they, even? what happens to the crooked team?
- breakup-makeup - I think this works best for the pairings and OT3s but hey, if you want to give it a go for commune, I am impressed at your nous and keen to read it - in this fandom what I particularly like is whether and how breaking up damages or affects the professional relationship, wider friendships. I like accidental unkindness.
- cursed to tell the truth! how would this affect podcasters? Pretty badly, I’d imagine. What do they say and not say? What are they trying to conceal?

I don't have that much to add to this except to say how much I love these kids. I love sweet Briar with his hard edges and tender places and his worldly camouflage. I love Tris, covering herself with her own edges to protect herself (and also being a bit genuinely grouchy) and her soft heart for small children and ugly dogs. I love Daja's utter decency, that core of strength she has, her big arms and the beautiful delicate work she produces. (I also love Sandry btw, I just particularly wanted something about one of these three.) I've given you some fairly specific prompts up there - and would also be into anything with Tris and Briar getting together as adults - and/or someone in the Circle having a baby and then they ALL become parents - and and and - but honestly anything you come up with about them would thrill me.

I'll be honest: I saw this in the tagset and INSTANTLY WANTED IT because I ADORE THESE FOLKS but I also have not read any fic and am not in the fandom and I am almost stunned with the complexity of the different things I want - so I just blathered a bit in my sign-up, but if you have a genius idea springing to mind unrelated to any of my ideas please please go and do that and I am 200% sure I will love it. I picked my four characters more or less at random/as people who I want fic about more than people who I love (e.g., Carla is my actual fave of the whole lot and I would love it if she got a prominent cameo, but I love her enough just in the videos to not need fic).

I'll talk more specifically about pairings/the OT3 in my letter but here are some ideas: AUs putting Favs or Tommy into the Lovett role (i.e. being the one breaking into the established friendship). for jonjon, AUs that swap the Jons around in terms of Lovett being the boss (comical but hey). Jonjon DC fic would also be v enjoyable for me, particularly if it follows them to LA. Truth curses - Favs and Tommy both seem RIPE for truth curses to me. I like established relationship and futurefic a lot and I'd particularly like it for the OT3, because I feel like OT3 stories generally often dwell far more on the getting together than on the realities of the relationship. Tommy discovers bisexuality. Futurefic where they've all moved on to different jobs but are surprised how much they miss each other.

I have been dreaming of the Briar/Tris story where Tris teaches Briar to read and they fall in love for many, many years, and anything on that theme would delight me so deeply. Then recently I re-read The Will of the Empress and remembered how tender and sweet and butch Daja is and fell in fond love with her romantic bumbling, and now I dream of Daja femslash - any sort - anywhen. I'd also love to read something, either gen or femslash, with Tris and Daja. Their relationship gets the shortest shrift in the books and something developing on it would delight me. I’d particularly love something set during or after the Circle Opens/Will of the Empress, when they’re a little older.

I don't need every single one of these people and would be fine/delighted if other people in the tagset appeared. Pairings that appeal to me: Brad/Chris, Chris/Andy, Brad/Andy, Brad/Claire. Some ideas in this space include, say, a hook-up that Andy doesn't expect to turn into anything with Brad or Chris, bc they're straight, but then ... it keeps happening and maybe it is a thing? Or: any two people I nominated have a fight about a recipe/a Making Perfect disagreement and then resolve it with SEX. Or: Andy sets Chris an awful Chris Recreates challenge and it leads to TENSION BETWEEN THEM and there's only one way to resolve that tension.
But it doesn't have to be pairing fic! I wouldn't mind a big AU with all of the people nominated, like, for example, this genius idea that has just occurred to me: WHAT IF the BA cast were all on the Great British Bake-Off. Or Claire has to recreate a fictional junk food and everyone pops in and out harassing her. Or, in fact, any story about one person trying to film an episode of anything and constantly being thwarted/supported by their coworkers. Delightful!
