My parents are both out tonight. This, believe me, is just FINE with me. However, today happens to be Tuesday- the day I have my viola lesson, which finishes at half-past five.
Now, my viola lesson is the only one of my many activities that I ask to be picked up from. I don't get taken to or from school, I don't get taken to viola after English Scholarship, I don't picked up after Chorale on Wednesdays, Mana Pasifika on Thursdays, taken to or picked up from violin on Fridays and orchestra on Saturdays; when I have concerts (frequently) I get myself dressed and there; I'm an organised and responsible eldest daughter.* But on Tuesdays, I do ask for a lift home, because my lesson is in Aro Valley, to get home from which I can either
-take two buses in rush-hour
-or walk about a kilometre to the nearest bus route that goes home
-or walk three kilometres home
-carrying my viola which is very heavy (though of course there are worse instruments)
-All this in a part of town that's DAMN COLD. I know that's daft. But it's the coldest suburb in the city.
So... it's not unreasonable I get one lift, and I don't think mum minds. But you know something? I mind when I get forgotten, which happens from time to time. And I REALLY mind when both parents go out- and they knew they were going out- and don't tell me that they're going out before dinner and won't pick me up, and don't leave a note at home, so I have to ring three different places and wait until six o'clock before I finally decide that they're not coming to get me, and it's time to start walking.
*KICKS* I'm sorry! I'm a brat! But it was cold and I'm tired and I woudln't have minded nearly so much if they're just told me, or at least left a note so that the first time I rang, one of the boys could have told me.
So... I'm in a BAD MOOD. Yes.
*I don't get the prize for Most Accomodating Child. My brother actually bikes to school in the mornings, where I who go further away catch the bus and cost my parents money. Also he doesn't do much after school. On the other hand, He misses about five times as much school to me because he takes time of school for the slightest sniffle.
But. GIP. Pretty.
