Reading the f_w report on the QQ thing, I was amused to think that I participate mostly in two fandoms: the most wanky fandom in the universe, and the least.

Young Wizards fandom. Well, really it stretches to include the whole of the fandom of the works of Diane Duane, but discussion of her other books is pretty much a subset of the main Young Wizards Series fandom, sadly.

It's non-wanky, as sennical mentiones below, 'cos it's tiny and also there's huge authorial involvement Sadly this also cuts down somewhat on LJ-based fic, but hey, never mind, right?

I'm inclined to think that YW has much less potential for wank due to the fact that its author is so heavily involved in the fandom itself. That and the fact that it's so miniscule.

Yeah, you're right, and of course the inverse is true in HP- although I'm also inclined to think that the books' subject matter makes them less prone to wank.

Not to say that there's never been wank.... but it's all fairly restrained boards stuff, I should imagine. *amused* the funfuns might even be it (sorry if you don't recognise this reference, long-time board joke.)
