Hi there folks,
The Black Caps, which are the New Zealand cricket team, are planning a tour to Zimbabwe later this year. If any of you feel you can, go to http://www.saynotozimtour.com/index.asp to sign a petition to stop them touring. this might remind you about the Springbok tours of 1981.

I think you should talk to Mum and Dad about it, and Rewi, because I am not as informed about this as I should be.
But I do know a bit about the 1981 tour- in 1981 the Springboks were going to tour New Zealand. However there was a lot of protest about this because at the time, South Africa was under apartheid rule. Eventually the Prime Minister intervened and prevented them from coming because allowing them to tour New Zealand was seen to be tacit support of the regime. Similarly, the Black Caps touring Zimbabwe is, or appears to be, a tacit support of a regime that New Zealanders- I hope- widely condemn.

My concern is the other people in Zimbabwe, and the support for a regime that I don't think we should be condoning, or appearing to condone, as a country.
