In a random burst of creativity (or, actually, not, since they consist of quotes only) this afternoon, I made 12 icons from Archy's Life of Mehitabel by Don Marquis. This the sequel to Archy and Mehitabel, and they are books about the adventures of one Archy, a free verse poet whose soul was transmigrated into the body of a cockroach as punishment for, well, being a free verse poet. Mehitabel is the cat. She has Cleopatra's soul. These books are incredibly awesome and hardly anyone's heard of them: you should go look them up right now.

Well, I guess he probably was meaning happy (actually Mehitabel says it. She's the cat. :P) but... you know... it can be taken all sorts of ways, right? ;)

I really do recommend them. You get to read about cockroaches getting drunk and plotting to take over the world. :P

I should think so; I actually didn't own any of them till yesterday, because I want to give one to a friend for her birthday, so I went second hand bookshopping and found archys life of mehitabel in the first one I walked into. And they're all paperbacks, it was only about $6 and definitely worth it (actually, I now feel like I can't give it away and have to go find another copy. :P)

So yeah: second hand bookshops are the best way to go, I would say.

Hee. They were originally, I believe, a weekly newspaper column that was collated into three books. :) I recommend second-hand bookshops as a first avenue of investigation.

Oh man, I love archy and mehitabel, and I am astonished at this fortuitous find! I'm quite impressed. I'm going to use all of the icons at one point or another, as I am always trying to convert my friends into archy fans.
