Someone stop me from doing [livejournal.com profile] fanfic100 for YW?

Please?

or alternatively- does anyone know if there's a deadline for it? Or is it just as it goes? Because you know, summer's coming up...

I won't stop you as long as you swear to do a D/R fic :)

<3

if I sign up, I really will do D/R. Because omfg, 100 fics is enough to cover everything in fandom at least three times. :P

Three D/R fics?

But really, I think you should go for it.

I know. And I've been really looking for a reason to keep up my fic writing. Of course, this would probably mean that I'd never do any of the [livejournal.com profile] myriadwords challenges... although some of them I could probably make apply. *hums*

oh my god, I still want to do it. *falls over*

If I sign up, which of course I'm not going to do...

Sounds like you've already made up your mind! If you do decide to go through with is I'll read it...
How's Shakespearse coming along by the way? ;)

Ssssh! In denial!

Shakespeare essay is due tomorrow, I still havem't read the play, and I've written about twenty words because I stared at it for THREE HOURS yesterday and couldn't think of a good introduction. *sigh* I'm gonna die tonight, hooboy.

Are you allowed help? Which play have you not read? I've read them all pretty much... you know where to find me ;).

From: [identity profile] labellementeuse.livejournal.com
I'm not allowed to plagiarise ;) the play is Othello, the question is "How does Othello represent the relationship between racial identity and virtue?" and I've now written 1,003 words (so only another 500 to go... :D). The introduction is shite but at least I have some idea of where I'm going once I get back from dinner, which is why I'm allowing myself half an hour to do the LiveJournal thang. :P

I think I need an "academia: breaks your brain more than fandom" icon.

*uses Shakespeare icon, just because.*

Well, yeah, general series would probably be the most sensible.

I'd consider Founders in Harry Potter fandom, except then I think I'd have to work in all four of them every time, which could be trickyu.

From: [identity profile] labellementeuse.livejournal.com
especially because there isn't really a huge cast- I mean, general series is really going to give me the Callahan sisters and Kit to work with for the bulk of the stories, plus Ronan and Carmela on the side. *mutter*

We-ell, you might only have to make a passing mention of them? The pairing example they gave was Mal/Inara (think that's firefly...) and they said that you could do a Mal-centric fic with a passing mention of Inara. Which sounds to me like it would work for the Founders Four, too.

I think you should go for it, I love your Founders fic. :)

From: [identity profile] persephone-kore.livejournal.com
Oh, I saw the part about it only having to be a passing mention, but while I like working on the Founders as a group, some topics fall naturally on subsets of them and I'm not sure if I could invariably mention each of the four, much less have them all show up, without being awkward. On the other hand, people have claimed families and houses, and I have trouble imagining that they mean to have to mention every member, every time. So perhaps as long as there's reference to their being part of a group....

*ponders* Or I could take Helga. I have Helga-bunnies. (Helga-badgers?)

You know, it's funny. Of course Nita and Kit and Dairine are central, but I would've assumed you'd write Tom and Carl, and I briefly toyed with the idea of picking a Power or two. Or Betty, but much as I like her, that would be a bit much.

I guess with the family and house thing, it's likely that each of the fics, while maybe it doesn't have to include the whole family, the characters it does use have to interact as family members? Like if you had the Weasley family, you wouldn't have to fit them all in each time (and a lucky thing, too...) but the characters you did use would, to some extent, have to be reacting about or with family? *shrug* It seems like it could work that way, anyway... ;) But you know, if you do Helga most of your fics are going to include the other Founders in some way, right? So it's like the best of both worlds.

Badgers would be SO much more difficult to deal with than bunnies, don't you think? More bossy.

I definitely will write Tom and Carl, of course, but I often feel like there's not really that much to say about them that doesn't involve Huge Plotted Stories, like the Epic of True Lurve I was teasing, um, I think it was [livejournal.com profile] bad_mushroom with. There's just not enough detail about them for things like one-shots and missing scenes to be all that viable. On the other hand, I could always write the Epic of True Lurve as a series of smaller fics for the challenge... *muses* ;)

Yeah, that makes sense.

But you know, if you do Helga most of your fics are going to include the other Founders in some way, right?

Generally. :) Though she may be the one I get ideas for without the others most often. (With Godric and Salazar, there's the friendship-turned-conflict thing, so with a few exceptions like Godric's first fight with a dragon and getting hauled home by his little sister who wasn't supposed to follow him, they tend to show up together. Or Salazar shows up by himself but with the other three very much There even if they aren't, if you see what I mean.)

...You know, I bet nobody would take "Neopets" as a general category before I got to it, but I'm not sure whether I could write it so the non-players would figure out what was going on. Or, you know, care.

Sorry, rambling instead of actually answering the main topic!

Epics in series of short stories are not a bad idea at all. And you can do a surprising amount in a drabble, really. Sometimes it's just a very very tiny story and sometimes you get some of the structural elements of poetry and/or no plot.

I'm wanting to take up another table (or, at least, make up my own table because I do believe the prompts could have been more interesting) for Discworld fandom, and I'm 4 days away from the start of my HSC.

Don't do it!

Yes, but the problem is how I'm using all these fun little things to not do all that work and study and practise essays and figuring out what the hell to do with Emma and Clueless that I should be doing.

As soon as November 4th comes along I'll be sweet, and if I had waited to sign up for *that* all I'd be able to pick in any fandom is ... [small insignificant character who dies on page 7 in an unspectacular way]. Or *Mulch* from Artemis Fowl, and I can't even write one fic about him.

:D it's a fun, fun time. Look at me using LJ to escape from an essay due tomorrow (in my defense, three hours ago I had twenty words of very shite introduction, and now I have 1003 words which are kind of going somewhere. The intro's still shite though. :P)

Nov 7th for me. *crosses fingers, cannot WAIT.* Heh yes, that's the good thing about being in one of those tiny baby fandoms like YW. *blesses*

Ah, see, that's the difference between us. I don't know Indochina, India, Bioethics in Islam + Christianity, Motors and Generators, Ideas to Implementation, Quanta to Quarks, the History of History *or* any of my english modules, and I *didn't* do 1003 words and a shite introduction today.

*stresses instead of doing any work*

Baby fandoms are fun. YW is such a baby fandom that I have no idea what the letters stand for, but I *am* interested in finding out, so that i can read your fics.

Ah, but, see, I still haven't read four out of six of the plays I'm theoretically supposed to have studied, or most of the complicated essays in the course readers; I haven't done any of the French exercises and don't know the passe anterieur from... anything...; my understanding of sociolingustics and the nation state is simplistic at best, I can't remember whether Brown and Levinson or Goffman wrote about positive and negative face, Policy and Practice means nothing to me, and I've forgotten everything I never knew about language and the social order. Not to mention OMFG MATHS NONONO. If I was to say everything I dodn't know about MATH105, I would be here for... a long time.

So we're, you know. Even. Excpet I'm not final year, but I sympathise moste heartily!

And, lol, YW stands for Young Wizards series by Diane Duane. You should DEFINITELY try to find So You Want to Be A Wizard, which is the first one and it's cool and funny and cute and I rec it most heartily. :D

I haven't read Emma, and it's... a twelth of what we have to know, when you get right down to it. Simplistic, really. It's physics and modern history in which I am very behind. I was smart, I dropped Maths. Best way to go about things, really.

I shall find it, and read it, and look forward to reading your table (and bugging you about finishing, which you are also encouraged to do to me). Somehow, I thought YW was going to be an anime.
