So um. I might... change my journal layout sometime... um...

What I'm actually asking for is advice. I want a pretty layout that is not terribly busy, but has a pretty picture in it somewhere. Maybe a header? I'm also meditating on going over to S2 (hahaha finally.) So, gang-who-have-pretty-layouts: What's a good style?
-I want it to have that thing with tags down the side of the page
-plus capability for maybe a pretty header
-easy to use
-what else is there? oh, I know, any colour suggestions? XD

Use flexible squares! There are tutorials for how to put a banner on it over at s2flexisquares, it has plenty of room for links/tags and it is pretty :D I am a big fan of it, can you tell? :P

I like flexible squares, too, although what I've done with it is not what you (Tui) want in a layout.

When I switched to S2 it was like, "Holy cow, why did I not do this before?" There're so many more possibilities for customization.

Boxer is the best S2 style (the one I'm using now) and there's a good base layer here: http://www.unkoil.net/lj/boxer.html

It's really helpful and easy to understand, plus it looks nice.

Thanks so much for the advice and offers- I'm going to really sit down and look at it next week when exams are done, but it's looking a little daunting now, so I may just take you up on that. :P We'll see.

I dunno. Personally I used S2 for ages until I was all like 'Wait, I could be using style overrides instead of trying to compromise!' If you've got a basic working knowledge of CSS S1 would be my recommendation. Even if you don't, there are places to steal code from.

Just in case you're still looking, I thought I'd add--I've been poking around S2 mods, and if you know some Perl I'd say go ahead, S2 looks good, if a little time-consuming. Personally, I'm not all that familiar with the more high-end coding lingos, though I keep swearing I'll learn.

I have neither CSS or Perl, so I was going for S2 on the grouns that it's supposed to be easiest. :P But it's all looking rather daunting... I might end up begging someone to do it for me, who knows? :P
