May is NZ Music Month...

I was browsing around looking for Kora lyrics (no luck, no surprise) and instead I found amplifier.co.nz, an NZ music online store AND database of artists/albums, with snippets of relevant tracks. But that's not the cool part. The cool part is the music videos. Come on, come on, who remembers King Kapisi's Screems from da old plantation? It's on has Nesian Mystik in Tino Rangatiratanga t-shirts!. Kora's newish track Politician is there too, which I'm happy to admit is cool to me mostly because hey, that's Wellington Railway Station! And look, he's walking towards the cenotaph! (Interestingly, they don't actually show the war memorial in the video, even though he's right there. Hm.) Adeaze and Scribe continue to make NZ hiphop palatable to me where US stuff isn't (Thank you, Dawn Raid entertainment; thank you, South Auckland and Canterbury, for not being total jerks and loving each other. I wish they had Stand Up because I love that one.)
... I just realised that Scribe's album, "The Crusader"? Scribe's from Christchurch, right. I'm pretty sure you're not supposed to name your debut album about your hard life and how you made it big after your, you know, rugby team.
I love the smell of NZ music in the morning. *uploads frenetically*
