May. 7th, 2006 04:27 pmDoctor Who 2x04: I don't have anything spoilery to say. I have heard that people don't like this episode, and all I can say is that I really enjoyed it and there is nothing wrong with it that a tiny, tiny bit of pairing flexibility wouldn't fix.
sixth_light had told me that people were complaining it was a ship-sinker; it's really, really not. Seriously. At all. :)

Date: 2006-05-07 04:56 am (UTC)I'm sort of non-spoilered for this one (I've done some brushing up on the history aspect), though reviews just /exploded/ all over my flist again. But surely the need for pairing flexibility is a good thing?
I'm thinking eventual Rose departure-wise, too.
And every relationship needs that element of doubt, yes. Otherwise... not as interesting.
(I am so psyched for next week, though. Cybermen and alternate universes = joy. And probably lots of angst.)

Date: 2006-05-07 05:19 am (UTC)Now I'm going to go to bed and attempt to forget the fact that creepy little British boys with gas masks are going to knock on my window and attempt to kill my soul (or whatever it was because I haven't seen the second part of that story).
Okay.

Date: 2006-05-07 06:43 am (UTC)I am insanely jealous that you get to watch those two episodes for the FIRST TIME EVERS. Oh my gosh.
Also, I don't like to be nasty or anything, but AHAHAH YOU HAVE TO WAIT. *amused* it's so funny when this happens to Americans because they haven't developed all those survival mechanisms us Commonwealthers have- bittorrents, episode communities.... heh. (You should, um, look around for that kind of thing, if you're illegally minded.)
What do you think of Jack? apparently post-EC pre-DD he's kind of annoying. I saw them on top of each other so I wouldn't know of course. >:D

Date: 2006-05-07 06:46 am (UTC)IMO, yes. But not everyone thinks this way (See: Harry Potter fandom, see also: H/Hr) and I guess some fans just can't cope. *shrug* As Lucy said, this episode really wasn't a ship-sinker; while it was romantic, and the attraction was definitely mutual, the romance itself was decidedly one-sided. And she was awesome. *shrug* Mickey was also pretty neat this episode.
(I too am looking forward to next week! I hear Mickey leaves, although as I said I sort of liked him this episode.)

Date: 2006-05-07 07:16 am (UTC)You know, you're the first person on my flist to mention the new series :D
I can't belive I didn't start downloading as soon as I got up :( I forgot about it. I could have watched it by now

Date: 2006-05-07 07:30 am (UTC)And now I'm trying to work out how exactly that relationship might have worked out.
Mickey has gotten capable lately.
(Mickey leaving is a bit sad, but I suppose it depends on how he leaves.)

Date: 2006-05-07 09:31 am (UTC)XD Whee, gold star for me!
I forgot too; I usually start downloading around 8 am (it finishes in the UK about 7 am our time) but this morning we didn't start till 11. Still had it about two or three pm, though.

Date: 2006-05-07 07:19 pm (UTC)but oh when I get my college laptop in a month or so...)Jury's still out on Jack. He's sort of amusing but I don't think I've seen enough of him to make a final judgment (plus he was being menaced by gas mask zombies when the episode ended so I wasn't really considering the merits of his character, per se. Fucking gas masks. The headboard of my bed is up against my window. It's a wonder I slept last night.)

Date: 2006-05-07 08:36 pm (UTC)oh and now that I've seen 'The Girl in the Fireplace', a tip of my hat needs to go to Mr. Moffat for the most awesome episode of series two so far. And for the references to his brilliant episodes last year :D.
Can't wait for next week :) CYBERMEN!

Date: 2006-05-07 09:04 pm (UTC)Me, I'm just far too open minded. I ship him with cat people. And sentient trees. ;)
Yes, no one can deny the Doctor/Rose. Because it's as canon as a Doctor Who ship is possible to be.
