Doctor Who 2x04: I don't have anything spoilery to say. I have heard that people don't like this episode, and all I can say is that I really enjoyed it and there is nothing wrong with it that a tiny, tiny bit of pairing flexibility wouldn't fix. [livejournal.com profile] sixth_light had told me that people were complaining it was a ship-sinker; it's really, really not. Seriously. At all. :)

*is now curious*

I'm sort of non-spoilered for this one (I've done some brushing up on the history aspect), though reviews just /exploded/ all over my flist again. But surely the need for pairing flexibility is a good thing?

I'm thinking eventual Rose departure-wise, too.

And every relationship needs that element of doubt, yes. Otherwise... not as interesting.

(I am so psyched for next week, though. Cybermen and alternate universes = joy. And probably lots of angst.)

IMO, yes. But not everyone thinks this way (See: Harry Potter fandom, see also: H/Hr) and I guess some fans just can't cope. *shrug* As Lucy said, this episode really wasn't a ship-sinker; while it was romantic, and the attraction was definitely mutual, the romance itself was decidedly one-sided. And she was awesome. *shrug* Mickey was also pretty neat this episode.

(I too am looking forward to next week! I hear Mickey leaves, although as I said I sort of liked him this episode.)

What I've heard that happens to micky is a bit more than leaving...

You know, you're the first person on my flist to mention the new series :D

I can't belive I didn't start downloading as soon as I got up :( I forgot about it. I could have watched it by now

Oh did you now. Hmmmmmm.... I don't know, I get all my rumours from my flatmate, but that would make me kind of sad.

XD Whee, gold star for me!

I forgot too; I usually start downloading around 8 am (it finishes in the UK about 7 am our time) but this morning we didn't start till 11. Still had it about two or three pm, though.

Ah, Harmonian-style. *grins* OTP taken to the extreme side of things.

And now I'm trying to work out how exactly that relationship might have worked out.

Mickey has gotten capable lately.

(Mickey leaving is a bit sad, but I suppose it depends on how he leaves.)

Well, yeah. Hey, I have steadily ground down Lucy who used to be such an OTP person. She still has OTPs- and so do I- but at least they're, you know, tastefully handled.

Heh. You'll find out... tomorrow, I assume?

Date: 2006-05-07 01:27 pm (UTC)
From: [identity profile] melata-fic.livejournal.com
Hee. Yeah, there's having OTPs, and there's... the sort of people who start shipwars.

At some stage tomorrow, I'm guessing. What time's best?

From: [identity profile] sixth-light.livejournal.com
For the record, I was never a shipwar person. I was merely firm in my convictions. Which I still am, to be honest. It's just when the writers and the actors and the producers and everyone even peripherally involved with the series all ship my OTP, I can afford to be more secure in my hopes for it.

*nods* Didn't pick you for one. Just one of those people who has a definite favourite relationship in the fandom.

Me, I'm just far too open minded. I ship him with cat people. And sentient trees. ;)

Yes, no one can deny the Doctor/Rose. Because it's as canon as a Doctor Who ship is possible to be.

I hate you and my friendslist for making me TiVo this show on a whim, because it's not like I don't have enough TV to watch already. And the SciFi channel's only on the ninth episode of the first season and I am not used to having to avoid spoilers because I don't live in a show's country of origin. (/whining)

Now I'm going to go to bed and attempt to forget the fact that creepy little British boys with gas masks are going to knock on my window and attempt to kill my soul (or whatever it was because I haven't seen the second part of that story).

Okay.

OMG EMPTY CHILD/DOCTOR DANCES BEST TWO EPISODES EVER.

I am insanely jealous that you get to watch those two episodes for the FIRST TIME EVERS. Oh my gosh.

Also, I don't like to be nasty or anything, but AHAHAH YOU HAVE TO WAIT. *amused* it's so funny when this happens to Americans because they haven't developed all those survival mechanisms us Commonwealthers have- bittorrents, episode communities.... heh. (You should, um, look around for that kind of thing, if you're illegally minded.)

What do you think of Jack? apparently post-EC pre-DD he's kind of annoying. I saw them on top of each other so I wouldn't know of course. >:D

Date: 2006-05-07 07:19 pm (UTC)
From: [identity profile] sennical.livejournal.com
Oh, don't worry. I know it's funny. (I'm still on the family computer so bittorrent isn't really an option but oh when I get my college laptop in a month or so...)

Jury's still out on Jack. He's sort of amusing but I don't think I've seen enough of him to make a final judgment (plus he was being menaced by gas mask zombies when the episode ended so I wasn't really considering the merits of his character, per se. Fucking gas masks. The headboard of my bed is up against my window. It's a wonder I slept last night.)

Just so you know, we ask because Jack is...well, Jack, but this is shorthand for one of the most awesomest characters anywhere ever. There is no one who does not love Jack including the Doctor.

I find him annoying sometimes... just sometimes though. I think its all the innuendo and that - oh and especially in Boom Town.. he just irked me for some reason.

oh and now that I've seen 'The Girl in the Fireplace', a tip of my hat needs to go to Mr. Moffat for the most awesome episode of series two so far. And for the references to his brilliant episodes last year :D.

Can't wait for next week :) CYBERMEN!

See, I love the interaction in Boomtown. All the OT3 goodness warms my heart.

TGiTF was pretty awesome, but next week's gonna be even better. Alternate universes make baby Jesus happy, indeed they do.

The gas masks actually were kind of terrifying... I really really dislike the whole creepy child thing, it scares me to death, so I didn't so so well with Empty Child. :P

I adore Jack, personally, but Dances really, really helps. *is filled with love*

Ah! Doctor Who. I have just recently begun to tape the new series (airing on SciFi channel here in the states, thank the gods for the Sci-Fi channel), and it's brilliant. So much Doctor Who love. Christopher Eccleston is my new hero.
